[edit]"make this Village a great place to live, work, and raise a family"-- Phrases like that aren't neutral. The whole thing looks like it was copied and pasted from a Rockville Center brochure, with no respect from cross-linking to other articles.Mattweinberg 07:21, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Commonwealth Spelling
[edit]This article is about Rockville Center, which is located in New York, an American state. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to use the American English "center" in the article as opposed to the Commonwealth English "centre"? Héous 17:09, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
No, because the name of the village IS Rockville Centre, not "Center".
- This point should be actively noted, though, and whether there has ever been an (internal or external) attempt to change it (cf. Pittsburgh). Salopian (talk) 11:27, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have inserted a note in the intro to that effect. ... discospinster talk 14:22, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Some suggestions
[edit]We could really use some images: it would be great if someone there would take some photos, add them to the Commons, and transclude them here.
Also: you'd never really know from reading this that Rockville Centre has one of the strongest town centers on the south shore. Something about that central business district would really strengthen the article. - Jmabel | Talk 01:29, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Notable residents
[edit]The notable residents list needs cleanup. It's a massive list of unsourced entries, and some of them have extensive descriptive text that probably ought to be split off to their own articles if they truly are notable. Notable residents should be blue-linked or if thet are red-linked, would really be potential article material. -- Whpq (talk) 20:16, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Nota Bene. Having attended Oceanside High School with Art Heyman and basketball games festooned with scouts, Art should be removed from this list. Thanks. --Ed Chilton, OHS 1960. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.85.32.66 (talk) 22:24, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
History
[edit]Where's the history? I know nothing about the place but was intrigued to see the place has the British spelling of "Centre" - it would be interesting to know who founded the place, and why it is named such. There must be a local resident with such info?
Wikihounding to this page by Epicgenius
[edit]Directly after I warned Epicgenius on another matter, in my very next edit I edited another page with regard to the residence of a resident who lived in Rockville Centre. Directly after that, Epicgenius came here and with his very first edit deleted the image of that person from this page.
This is clear, unabashed wikhounding. From an editor who should know better. There's no proper reason for that deletion. His hiding it in the deletion of other images (and other subsequent personal-taste edits) notwithstanding. Wikhounding is disruption. There's no excuse for it. And for the edits made as part of it. --Epeefleche (talk) 05:00, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Okay. How about, first of all, assuming good faith first? And second, not reverting all of my edits? My edits are obviously improvements, barring the removal of the images. The images, however, are not needed. Where's your real evidence? It's not wikihounding, so stop assuming as such. Epicgenius (talk) 13:55, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Btw, I changed the header to use my full name. I don't appreciate you confusingly using my short form in a header but not in the actual comment Epicgenius (talk) 02:21, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
