Electorates
[edit]The article gives the following seats he represented:
- Caversham in the 5th New Zealand Parliament (1875), Dunedin East in the 6th New Zealand Parliament (1875–79) and in the 9th New Zealand Parliament (1884–87), Inangahua in the 11th New Zealand Parliament (1893), and the City of Wellington in the 12th New Zealand Parliament and 13th New Zealand Parliament (1893–98).
Wilson [1] gives the following dates:
- Caversham - 20.8.75 to 6.12.75
- City of Dunedin East - 20.12.75 to 23.6.79 (resigned) & 22.7.84 to 15.7.87 (defeated)
- Inangagua - 8.6.93 to 8.11.93 Li = Liberal
- City of Wellington - 28.11.93 to 10.2.98 (resigned) NB: Con/96 (not Li.) Hugo999 (talk) 00:58, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Caversham was at a by-election, but Dunedin East (1875-76 general election) should probably be from 28.12.75 like Edward Stafford, not 20.12.75 Hugo999 (talk) 01:12, 29 July 2010 (UTC) Also; Wilson has Dunedin East as a single-member electorate, represented by Stout (1875-79) then Green (1881-84); but why a gap from 1879 to 1881? Hugo999 (talk) 01:16, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, Stout did not represent Dunedin East in 1875–79, but Dunedin (New Zealand electorate). See Talk:Dunedin East for an in-depth look into this issue. Schwede66 09:03, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
