Guitarist? No effing way
[edit]I LOVE Guided By Voices... I LOVE Robert Pollard's voice and songwriting genius. But for the love of christ... he can't play guitar to save his life.
Untitled
[edit]This article makes some pretty outlandish claims about an artist i've never heard of- i'm not sure he's one of the greatest songwriters in history
- Well, it's your own fault for not hearing of him because he is certainly legendary as far as indie rockers go, but you're right that we needn't claim things like "greatest", even if we make it factual by saying "considered by many." I therefore removed the hyperbole. — brighterorange (talk) 00:23, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
That's retarded. I don't think it's outlandish at all to say that he's considered to be among the greatest songwriters going right now, and/or of all-time. I mean a lot of people haven't heard of him, and a lot of people don't like him, but as far as pure songwriters go, he's more than just "prolific", which is a lame way of describing what he does. But hey, wikipedia is wikipedia. Always trying to be "objective" about everything.66.80.144.5 21:00, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
Extended Discography
[edit]I'm planning on eventually incorporating the entire side project/collaborative/pseudonymous discography here. It's a work in progress. As of this posting I've thrown up the first couple and will flesh it out over time. Anyone else who wants to contribute is welcome to do so. Anazgnos 03:15, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Edison's Demos
[edit]Is there a particular reason why this isn’t included in an otherwise excellently maintained page? Edison’s Demos was a collection of Earthquake Glue ‘early versions’, released as a vinyl only LP through Luna Music in or around 2004. Does this fall under Pollard releases or GBV as it doesn’t seem to be covered on either page. It’s got his name on the cover anyway so I guess it should be here!Iangreaves 14:00, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Tropic of Nipples
[edit]Doesn't mention 'Tropic of Nipples' with Robert Pollard / Richard Meltzer, so far.

External Link suggestion
[edit]As an editor at Crawdaddy!, and to comply with COI guidelines, I am not posting the link to this review of Boston Spaceships' Brown Submarine. However, I would like to recommend it on its merits, and hope that an editor will find the time to examine the review and—if he or she sees fit—post it to the External Links section of this page, or, if a Brown Submarine page is created, to that page's Professional Reviews section. I appreciate your time. Crawdaddy! (favorable) [1]

Boston Spaceships merge
[edit]Mentions of this band in 3rd party sources most frequently refer to it as "Robert Pollard's Boston Spaceships" With that in mind and the lack of a notable label for this band, seems like merge is the most appropriate move (rather than delete it). Any objections?--RadioFan (talk) 02:44, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
- They've released several albums, and the other members are noted musicians from other bands - no reason for them not to have their own page, and/or for them to simply be a mention on Pollard's page, simply because he's the most high-profile member (such things being relative) and band leader of sorts. I'll take off the tag on that page as there's been no clear consensus to make such a change in five months now. N-HH talk/edits 12:31, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

why that jump between "Propeller" and " Half Smiles of the Decomposed"??
[edit]Why that jump between "Propeller" and " Half Smiles of the Decomposed"??
In my opinion, the biographer omitted the time with the very best GBV albums (Bee Thousand, Alien Lanes, Under the bushes.....).
And the "detail" about the pushing promotion of GBV that Kim Deal was doing everywhere at that time... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Norinte (talk • contribs) 01:39, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
