Name

[edit]

According to the Washington Post he was born Moishe Miller, nor Morris Miller.

I doubt that his birth certificate reads Moishe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.227.102.156 (talk) 03:47, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth

[edit]

What evidence exists that he was born in 1919, not 1917?

Does the author of this article have proof of this?

Year of Birth Correction

[edit]

I have corrected the year of birth. His daughter, Lizanne Merrill, lists his year of birth as 1917 located at http://www.robertmerrill.org/bio.htm

I spoke with Lizanne Merrill regarding his actual birth year. She stated that he was born in 1917, but he would sometimes state 1919 for various reasons. Furthermore, his gravestone even reads 1917. With that in mind, is it really necessary for that extra comment in the first paragraph?

I was looking for information. The Social Security Death Index seems to confirm 1917:

ROBERT MERRILL 04 Jun 1917 24 Oct 2004 (V) 10804 (Wykagyl, Westchester, NY) (none specified) 081-07-2677 New York

Search for it here. --Jackson008 03:25, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have once again changed his birthyear back to 1917. I think that it is very safe to say that this is accurate due to the social security index, his gravestone, and the personal testimony of both his wife Marion Merrill and his daughter Lizanne Merrill directly to me. Should this issue arrise again, I will be seeking arbitration.

Change in licensing for File:Robertmerrill.jpg

[edit]

As a result of some research, I found the copyrights for these images were not renewed. Full details can be found on the file. Because of this conversation, am changing the licenses of the images in the NBC Parade of Stars portfolio to public domain-copyright not renewed. We hope (talk) 18:20, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yiddish? German?

[edit]

Did Robert Merrill know Yiddish?... Did Robert Merrill know German?... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theszak (talkcontribs) 01:01, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the missing information?

[edit]

The bulk of Robert Merrill's career is missing from this article. It seems clear that at least the section on his Metropolitan Opera career has been gutted at some point. There should also be information about his performances elsewhere and his substantial recital and concert career. TheOperaGuy (talk) 04:49, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
