[edit]I suggest to remove this page since http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Townsend_(economist) is a better fitting one

- I don't have time to edit now, especially around the holidays. Could someone merge where appropriate? As I major contributor, I think merge to Robert Townsend (economist) and delete this is fine. Keep the refs, though. —Chrishy 20:35, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
V sq created a content fork of this article at Robert Townsend (economist) and then attempted to delete this one via prod. I believe this to be misguided and wrong. First, the disambiguator (economist) is only needed when multiple people have names that are too similar to distinguish in other ways, not true here. Second, that's the wrong way to change the title of an article, as it violates GFDL by losing the edit history. And third, the other article, while having some additional information, did not seem an improvement overall to me. Instead, I merged the new content from the other article to here and left a redirect there to this one. —David Eppstein (talk) 22:24, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds like the correct soution to me. Nsk92 (talk) 22:34, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
I disagree with David Eppstein comment strongly. First of all there is a lot of confusion with Robert Townsend (actor) (born 1958), African-American actor, as well as with other similar names and having the page referencing the person with middle name included is not a common way to resolve this ambiguity. Second, the page I created contained a list of major achievements and contributions into economics that previous page didn't have being simply a stub.
I would appreciate if David Eppstein made an effort to understand the work done which is way beyond his professional specialty before making derogatory comments. (V sq (talk) 22:55, 27 December 2008 (UTC))
Removal of Speedy tag
[edit]Being a bit WP:BOLD. and removing a Speedy tag. I believe this person is notable. Many publications, prof at good colleges, good secondary sources, etc. I plan to edit. —Chrishy 02:10, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, added some refs, edited some content. Hopefully it looks cleaner. And Prof. Townsend obviously meets WP:PROF. —Chrishy 02:56, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
