Merriman's death
[edit]In Hochschild's new book, Spain in our Hearts, he ends the book with a different story on how Merriman died. His ex-wife was contacted by someone with him, and the story brought her peace. As groups of soldiers tried to slip past the Nationalists at night, they were caught in machine gun fire. According to one account, he died that way, but in another account he was captured and executed later. Ctskelly (talk) 05:45, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
