Zone speed limits?

[edit]

What is the difference between https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:New_Zealand_road_sign_R1-8.1_(10).svg and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:New_Zealand_road_sign_R1-1_(10).svg ?

Is square one maybe a zone speed limit? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 06:59, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mateusz Konieczny: I apologise for your having to wait this long for an answer to your question. The speed limit signs with a square white board are used for situations requiring increased visibility, similar to the difference between File:New Zealand road sign W1-1A.svg and File:New Zealand road sign W1-1B.svg. They do not represent a speed limit zone, as in Poland. Fry1989 eh? 15:58, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Historical signs

[edit]

I do not believe that most readers will be able to readily discern the difference between the two images on the right. The difference in the width of the black outline is minimal. Therefore, there is not really a need to include the warning signs from the 1987–2016 time period. It only serves to clutter the article, and make it harder for viewers with a slow internet speed or with a data limit to view the article. Fry1989 eh? 15:54, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the above. I would also question whether it is necessary, for example, to show markers for a large number of differently-numbered state highways, given that their designs are all the same. This also clutters the article. Ehrenkater (talk) 18:19, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
