Length of river
[edit]I have removed the fact that the total length of the river is 25 miles, since it was unsourced, and the navigable length from the sea to Pallingham is 25.5 miles. I cannot yet find a source for the total length, but it is obviously considerably more than 25.5 miles. Bob1960evens (talk) 22:15, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- Length is 37 miles, according to Vine (2007). Bob1960evens (talk) 21:53, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Assessment
[edit]- Suitably referenced, with inline citations
- Reasonable coverage - no obvious omissions or inaccuracies
- Defined structure, with adequate lead
- Reasonably well written for grammer and flow
- Supporting materials - Infobox, map, images
- Appropriately understandable
I have assessed the article against the criteria for B-class. The lead needs expanding to adequately summarise the contents, and the Route section needs expanding and tidying up before it meets these criteria. I am therefore rating it C-class for the moment. Bob1960evens (talk) 17:33, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
- Route section has been sorted out, and lead now summarises the article, so I am rating it B-class. Bob1960evens (talk) 23:04, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
Parking text
[edit]I am parking the following text for the moment, until I work out what to do with it.
- The river was a toll-free navigation as far as Pallingham, by ancient royal charter, causing financial difficulties for the navigation company, which was obliged by act of parliament to maintain the river.

Hardham Lock
[edit]I have shown Hardham Lock facing down the page, although it is shown in the other direction by Cumberlidge (2009). However, the 1876 1:2500 map shows it in this direction, with Hardham Mill beside it. The flow here is to the north, because it is the outlet for the River Rother. It the lock also faced north, there would be nowhere for the Rother to flow. Bob1960evens (talk) 22:15, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
WP River Importance
[edit]I noticed that this article hasn't been given an importance rating for Rivers, I will set it to Low, as I don't think it meets the Mid criteria. Jokulhlaup (talk) 16:25, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Arun Navigation - referenced but not defined
[edit]The Arun Navigation is referenced but not defined. I'm guessing that it's the canal sections which bypass the River Arun? Is there a point at which navigation inland on the River Arun stops and resumes on the Arun Navigation?
