Fair use rationale for Image:Ricki-lee brandnewday promo.jpg

[edit]

Image:Ricki-lee brandnewday promo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Article Name

[edit]

Although Ricki-Lee has married, this does not mean that we should change the article name. See here - Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies)#Names - it states that the article title should generally be the name by which the subject is most commonly known. Therefore, I have moved the article back to Ricki-Lee Coulter. Thank you *Hippi ippi 07:17, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When it says that the title should be the most commonly known title, shouldn't it be moved to "Ricki-Lee". That's the name she uses for all her music records. She rarely uses her last name. RaNdOm26 05:31, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LGBT rights activists from Australia

[edit]

Should Ricki-Lee be included in this category? It mentions in the first paragraph (albeit misspelled and unsubstantiated) that she supports gay people and their love. I'm not sure whether this constitues activism or mere support.
I haven't a clue how to categorize articles, nor whether Ms Coulter should be categorized, any opinions?
Gay15boy 11:53, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This quote is unsourced and it could be a mere opinion from somebody, so this should be deleted. I don't know the lyrics to the song, but we can't assume that she supports gays simply because she sings about it (if that's actually true). Adding LGBT for this is not appropriate. RaNdOm26 12:18, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image Image:Brand New Day.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Actress

[edit]

The article describes her an actress ("is a New Zealand-born Australian pop/R&B singer, actress, radio presenter and celebrity"). IMDb doesn't, however, know anything about her acting roles in movies or television [1] (acting as herself doesn't count). Has she had acting roles in theatre? If not, where does this "she is an actress" thing come from? ,,n (talk) 13:45, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what actress and celebrity were doing there, ofcourse she's a CELEBRITY! lol so I have changed it to (is an Australian pop/R&B singer-songwriter, television and radio presenter). She's defintely not an actress, just appeared on TV either as a host or performing. ozurbanmusic (talk) 23:23, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I support the proposal, this is the name she uses for her music. Her music is what she is most notable for. In most of the sources she is just referred to by that name. Looking on Google trends, there are more hits for Ricki-Lee than Ricki-Lee Coulter. I think when you look at those factors and if we go by WP:COMMONNAME - it should be Ricki-Lee.RaintheOne BAM 00:35, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This means they started seeing each other in ca 2001 when she was in high school and 15/16 years old and he was about 23. What was/is Babbington's profession? How did he support her? Content elsewhere describes songs Coulter wrote regarding the end of their relationship: are there any about the good times? Any indication of what Babbington has done after Coulter?  Done
      1. According to here, (23 January 2008) She was 15 when they met, he was 23, they started "dating seriously" after about a year. Babbington is a builder, the lyrics for "Can't Sing a Different Song" are "'kind of bragging' about how happy she and her husband are"  Done

  3. Verifiable with no original research:
  4. (a) it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline;
    (b) reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose); and
    (c) it contains no original research.
    References
I will be checking all the references and each numbered comment below is related to the ref's number as it existed at this time. The order in the article may change from this numbering as refs get moved, added or deleted.
    • Preliminary comments: its good to see lots of webcites this should reduce linkrot effects. Consider changing {{Reflist|2 to {{Reflist|25em (or similar).

    1. Fix url to point directly to the title being searched rather than the generic search engine. I've already supplied the url above but here it is again (with title fixed too): url=http://www.apra-amcos.com.au/worksearch.axd?q=Not%20Broken | title = Works Search – Title: 'Not Broken' For future use the important part of the url is after axd?q= where the title is entered with %20 replacing spaces. This is only useful for titles – I haven't found a work around for 'Performer' or 'Writers' – and has an upper limit of 750 results. Full name and performer name(s) are supported here.  Done
    2. year=2008 Before 15 March. Content supported at: a, b, d and e. At c it supports Jodie only, no sign of Emily here. 3. Add (News Corporation) to publisher. Content at a: Source gives her mother's married name as Loretta Sheerin, her uncle as Darren Coulter. No mention of descent. Content at b: Babbington is 30, they've been together for six years.  Done

    7. Adj publisher per [5]. Subscription required? If so, add a note to ref. I only see first two lines: can't confirm content at a, b or c. I have seen this content at other refs (but can't remember which): it would be preferable to use non-subscription sources.

    Criterion 3

    [edit]
  5. Broad in its coverage:
  6. (a) it addresses the main aspects of the topic; and
    (b) it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
Doing well on this Criterion and with the work on previous criteria this will be acceptable. Two minor queries (but not compulsory for this criterion):
    1. If possible I'd like to see her biological father's name but this may be difficult to find in an acceptable source.
      1. I've only found sources on her step father's name. Nothing on her biological father's name has come up. Oz talk 11:12, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      2. OK.
    2. Are there any verifiable instances of her providing instrumentation for a recording or live public performance?
      1. Is this about adding the instruments she played in high school in the infobox? Oz talk 11:12, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      2. It could be faulty memory, I read somewhere that she had played an instrument live but I can't remember the occasion so I'd leave it out. The high school stuff would not provide sufficient professional performance to be added to the infobox.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 13:49, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Comments

    [edit]

A user recently added information in the Personal life section about Coulter not wanting to have children. Is this needed? Oz talk 00:11, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This point is probably too trivial for the article, I've seen it mentioned but before her marriage to Babbington she was saying she was looking forward to having children. She may change her mind on having children as time progresses but these vagaries don't appear to be an important part of her life.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 00:49, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Criterion 4

    [edit]
  7. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.
    1. Already quite healthy on this Criterion, with further work above, this is covered.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:03, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Criterion 5

    [edit]
  8. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
    1. Some edits in-line with above comments is expected, otherwise the article appears to be relatively stable.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:05, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

    Criterion 6

    [edit]
  9. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
  10. (a) media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content; and
    (b) media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.
    Images
    1. Infobox:OK
    2. Coulter2006:OK
    3. 2007:Caption is a little thin. Add location & month. Check year: is it 2008? From the text we have Coulter headed over to US to record 2nd alb: "had headed overseas to work on her second solo album" dated 11 Feb. If it is Feb 2008 then she would be promoting that 2nd alb.  Done
    4. 2012:Caption can add something about her debuting tracks from the third album. For date just month & year is sufficient.  Done
    5. 2011:Just month & year. Venue?  Done
    6. Although not necessary, a suitable sound file or two of her typical work would help illustrate the article.  Done
