Full name/Birth name?
[edit]Is the full name shown (Richard John Cyril “Rick” Allen) known to be correct?
The ASCAP publishing database lists “Richard Alisdair Allen” as co-writer of multiple Def Leppard songs. Mrpaulin (talk) 03:54, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Jenkem?
[edit]In looking at the jenkem article I am not finding any references to its use before the 1990s. Additionally, the claim in the article that Allen was under the influence of this substance is unsubstantiated. Danaseilhan (talk) 07:23, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
At one point in the article, it says:
and when Joe Elliott got a call saying that Rick lost his arm in a car crash, he was stunned to know so he drove...
"[S]tunned to know"? Not good use of English. Tessaroithmost (talk) 19:20, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Merge of Duplicate Article
[edit]At Rick Allen (Def Leppard drummer) the following text
- Rick Allen was the drummer in the British rock band Def Leppard. He lost an arm in an accident but still plays for the band with one arm
is the result of the following edits

I am merging the histories but leaving it to those more familiar to do whatever is called for with the text preserved here (and in the Page history).

Huh?
[edit]The article says, "Doctors had reattached his left arm, but due to infection it was removed again. Rick Allen left the hospital three and a half weeks after he was taken in, even though the situation he was in was expected to last for six months." That doesn't make sense. Does this mean that, after six months, was Rick expected to have grown a new arm? Because that's what it says. --Trweiss (talk) 19:25, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- What the fuck are you talking about? 76.219.170.8 (talk) 13:40, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
He was expected by the doctors to require up to six months in the hospital due to the several complications encountered with reattaching and then removing the arm again. Unexpectedly, he was able to be released a short 3 and a half weeks later. Yea, the sentence could probably use a bit of rephrasing, but that's what they mean.
Also, if memory serves, the doctors had no intention on re-attaching the arm based on the fact that it took so long for Rick to be discovered after the accident. He was able to convince the doctors to give it a try. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.202.148.232 (talk) 20:11, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Drug Addiction, Alcoholism and Spousal Abuse
[edit]The article is now better written but it’s a bit of a whitewash, more like the biography you’d find in a record label press kit. There’s no mention of his drug or alcohol addictions or history of domestic violence – both of which are a matter of legal record. It’s referred to in another Wikipedia article and a quick Google search turned up the following links:[1] and [2]. I’d expand the article myself but it should really be done by someone who has a deeper knowledge of the subject; I just happened to recall reading about his arrest when it happened in the mid-90s. Martan (talk) 13:10, 24 August 2008 (UTC) Oh do it!! Victuallers (talk) 20:49, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Removed "allegedly" from discussion of spousal abuse as cited reference indicates he pleaded guilty.

Recommend expansion and improvement
[edit]Today I added this: {{Cleanup-biography}}
This article is not a useful biography of Rick Allen, especially because so much more info is available in the public record. In fact, there is very little actual biography at all after the Intro section. I recommend significant improvements to this article and will help out myself when I have the time. Doomsdayer520 (talk) 08:07, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's getting better... thanks to some anonymous folks who restored some biographical info that had been deleted/vandalized previously. We need some more expansion on Rick Allen's personal like but will have to be careful with drug abuse and spousal abuse stories, as Victuallers noted a few comments above. Doomsdayer520 (talk) 10:03, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
Depressed?
[edit]The article says "he never felt deeply depressed because of what happened" but goes on to say "Allen thought that he could not continue drumming for Def Leppard and became very depressed." Which is true? Totnesmartin (talk) 16:50, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Date of Accident
[edit]Rick's accident was in 1984, not 1981.Hucklebuck10 (talk) 03:11, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
First Wife?
[edit]The article notes specifically his marriage to his "first wife" but does not give any information about a subsequent marriage? In which case that should be "his wife" with no qualifier, or otherwise at least a mention of any other marriage(s). 85.229.56.227 (talk) 13:54, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
Origin?
[edit]The infobox has a "Origin London, England" section, but there is no mention of London in the article. 194.28.127.53 (talk) 04:02, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
