indenting on talk pages
[edit]@Marinaromanova55, so now that you're consistently pinging correctly, I want to introduce indentation on talk pages. Indenting is how we make a conversation easy to follow. It works like this:
First point
- First reply to first point
- First reply to first reply to first point
- Second reply to first point
- First reply to second reply to first point
- First reply to first reply to second point
- First reply to second reply to first point
Second point
When it's just two people, it's pretty simple: When you reply to me, insert one more colon before your reply than are in front of the post you're replying to. You need to do it for each line/paragraph, so when you hit return, you need to insert a new set of colons. If you take a look at this section in edit mode, you'll see what I mean about the colons in the 'first point' stuff above.
When you start a new point in the same discussion, you start with no colons.
To show you what it looks like, I've indented correctly in the section above this one. Sorry for the new bit of learning, our talk system is a bit outdated here. We're actually working on an automated system that will help ping, indent, and sign correctly. —valereee (talk) 13:34, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

- What I think should be changed:
- Why it should be changed:
- References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):
Dear Valereee,
Please, correct text in three places (numbered as 1, 2 and 3 below). New text has more references, it is more precise and more neutral. Also, I removed information which cannot be confirmed directly by references.
1. Instead of the phrase:
- He also developed the theory of the stability of electron and ion rings,[1][better source needed] which is used in current laboratory experiments on magnetic confinement fusion (for example at TAE Technologies in California).[citation needed]
Please, put the phrase below which is more precise:
2. Also, please substitute the old paragraph:
- Lovelace proposed a new method of measuring magnetic fields,[3][better source needed] developed a pioneering theory of intense ion beams in pulsed diodes, which are currently used in laboratories,[4][better source needed] and proposed the theory of magnetic insulation, which is used in laboratories including at Sandia National Laboratories.[5][better source needed]
with a new one:
3. Please, substitute the phrase:
- He invented a trapping mechanism of spin-polarized neutral gas, which has been experimentally demonstrated.[7][8][better source needed]
with a new one:

- Marina, I made the first change, but the references for these changes are almost all to Richard's own work. I don't want to make any more changes that are referenced to his own work. —valereee (talk) 13:28, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- Dear Valereee. Thank you very much! I think, the paper looks sufficiently good now. I like that it is shorter. I like that all science work is in one section. I thought, I diluted references to his work with references made by other people in the proportion of 1:2 or 1:3. But OK, not a big loss. I may ask to add couple of achievements in astrophysics.
