Richard Ford (writer) → Richard Ford (English writer) – Richard Ford is also a writer, so additional disambiguation is needed, but I'm not sure if it should be English, British, or travel, or if "Richard Ford (writer)" should go to Richard Ford or to the disambiguation page. - Distinction from the contemporary US writer is clearly necessay. Richard Ford's literary output was partly on the arts, but he is remembered primarily for the editions of his Hand-Book for Travellers in Spain, which is revered by Hispanists as the greatest nineteenth century guide to Spain in the English language. Re: the above uncertainly, I think that "English" would be an appropriate nationality and one that identified with himself ("gracias a Dios, soy caballero inglés" [Handbook]). May I propose as an alternative to "Writer" the phrase "English travel writer"? This would provide instant, double distinction from the living US novelist.2.26.225.89 (talk) 11:25, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- Support either Richard Ford (English writer) or, preferably, Richard Ford (Hispanist) – I suppose the latter would be more WP:RECOGNIZABLE disambiguator. Redirect Richard Ford (writer) to Richard Ford, although the dab page would be also a fine target. No such user (talk) 11:06, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- Spanish wp has the article at es:Richard Ford (hispanista), an intriguing choice. He is specifically referred by that attribute in Hispanism, as well as by e.g. Cervantes and Glick. No such user (talk) 11:38, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- There are 53 links to Richard Ford (writer) that need to be fixed should we decide to retarget it to the dab page. No such user (talk) 12:19, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- Support nom, move to Richard Ford (English writer). I think this is more meaningful and recognizable than "Hispanist", and fits the description of him in the opening sentence. — Amakuru (talk) 20:20, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
