Birth date citation needed
[edit]I remember searching for sources, both offline and online, for a more precise birthdate for Richard Doyle over the years but never finding anything more specific than September 1824.
Now, this 2011 edit added the infobox with "18 September" without source. The German wikipedia article also has 18 September and no inline citation, but it does refer to a printed source: Joachim Möller: Eintrag in Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon. Band 29. Saur, München, Leipzig 2001, S. 277. This source, also named Thieme-Becker, appears to be available in printed form, CD, and in the form of online rental, but at considerable prices.
I made this source request for page 277.
Furthermore, other wikipedia projects are importing this unsourced date via wikidata. Wikidata references the English wikipedia, which should not be used as a source for obvious reasons.
For this reason I've also asked the editor that recently added "18" to the birthdate where they obtained this information in the hope they have a reliable source. -84user (talk) 00:06, 31 August 2016 (UTC)
