[edit]their is also a secondary school named after him in new malden —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.149.58.221 (talk • contribs)
- There are several schools named after him, at least three of which already have wiki pages Bishop Challoner School, Bishop Challoner RC School, Richard Challoner School. Does anyone know if the connection is anything more than nominal? Mighty Antar (talk) 00:21, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Lewes
[edit]Interesting piece. Just wondered about the mention of Lewes, Sussex, as a "Protestant town." Certainly Protestantism counted for most of the church affiliations of its residents at that time, but is it fair to actually dub the town "a Protestant town"? (And, yes, I am aware of the Lewes Martyrs.) Just a thought. MarmadukePercy (talk) 20:11, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Pronunciation of the last name
[edit]There are at least three plausible pronunciations of the last name: CHAL-loh-ner, SHAL-loh-ner, and KAL-loh-ner. Which, if any, is correct? The pronunciation needs to be given in the article. 108.246.205.134 (talk) 06:53, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
- The Daniel Jones pronouncing dictionary gives [tʃælənər] as the modern pronunciation, which is what would be expected, I think (certainly what I've always assumed)... AnonMoos (talk) 07:50, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
Bishop of Debra
[edit]His titular see was Dobero. Is Debra a mispelling? or an Englishified form? see http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/bchal.html --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 20:41, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
- Says "Doberus" here: [1]. Modern name "Dojran"... AnonMoos (talk) 05:17, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
