I wish to register scepticism about the value of this article:

1. It treats as a single dialect area a region split by two major isoglosses, and seems not to see this as a problem.
2. It is not NPOV about the so-called "German defintion"
3. The tone of the article does not inspire confidence: the statement "those dialects have nothing in common except one single word (ich)"; "The Benrather Linie, one of the isoglosses most frequently mentioned in books" !!
4. It matches no equivalent article in German, and the nearest Dutch article http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rijnlands, which is not linked, doesn't seem to offer any support for this one.
5. Finally, it offers no sources to allay those reservations.

I agree. There are no sources cited, and the article sounds very much like it's arguing for a specific analysis. That's both original research and non-NPOV. I'm tagging it as such now. Angr 21:01, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

This article is a joke, as is the one on the Aachen dialect. Both are so thoroughly non-factual that they ought to simply be removed. This article contains untruths and it is disorganized. The comments about the "pitch accents" are not true and are obviously written by someone who has no idea what they are all about. The article contains a lot of useless rambling. Usage of the term Rhinelandic

I don't know whether it is actually the same as the German Rheinisch. Could someone find a deifinition of the English term ? Sarcelles 17:24, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

It is not the same, it even hardly has anything in common with it.

Currently, there are three hardly related meanings listed in the linked de:Rheinische Sprache (i.e. Rhinelandic language):

1. Rhinelandic accent
2. Regiolect of the central Rhineland - in German de:Rheinischer Regiolekt
3. Rhinelandic local languages, or Local languages of the Central Rhineland - corresponds to various individual and dialect group articles in the German Wikipedia, plus some ones about their specific, and common, linguistic properties, etc.. This is at the moment a field of hopelessly incomplete coverage. To my knowledge Rhinelandic (de:Rheinischer Regiolekt) is the regiolect, Low Rhenish (de:Niederrheinisch) is Low Franconian limited to Germany, which means that the redirect of Low Rhenish to Meuse-Rhenish is not correct, as Low Rhenish stops at the Dutch border. One can't speak of a Rhenish dialect area. This is a sourced information from the article. Lameli created one of the few sources for Rhinelandic. However, his work was based on Germany only. There are articles linking to Rhinelandic. Sarcelles (talk) 21:10, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
