International Workingmens Association
[edit]The IWA founded in 1883 is not the same as the IWA linked to in the article. The 1883 group was founded in Pittsburgh under the leadership of Johan Most. It floundered shortly after the eight-hour day strike and related incidents in 1886. I'm going to remove the link to the so-called First International to avoid confusion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.191.153.118 (talk) 20:51, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- The original stub written in 2005 correctly had the 1883 group down as the International Working People's Association. Not sure how it got changed. Carrite (talk) 17:21, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Proposal to delete this article
[edit]I'd like to suggest we have this article deleted. First off, it appears that there never was a "Revolutionary Socialist Labor Party" — the source of the error being my website (www.marxisthistory.org) in which I somehow got Foner History of the Labor Movement in the United States, vol. 2, pg. 38 wrong. Correct name should be "Revolutionary Socialist Party."
Secondly, everything in this 5-year old stub is now safely ensconced in the narrative at International Working People's Association. I don't see that a lot more can be said about the "Revolutionary Socialist Party" — and if somebody DOES think there is an article to be had there at sometime in the future, they could simply create the page from scratch.
Alternatively, the name of this page should be changed to "Revolutionary Socialist Party".
Name change and keep it stubbed or delete??? Thoughts? Carrite (talk) 17:21, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'd support a move to "Revolutionary Socialist Party (United States)". Even though part of a larger international movement, an article on the party could be useful for categorizations. --Soman (talk) 17:34, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
I would say that Revolutionary SLP and Social Revolution Clubs could be best integrated into the IWPA article. About the Social Revolutionaries / Clubs etc. there is a statement from the SLP on page five here http://www.archive.org/details/BullitinOfTheSocialLaborMovement --Dudeman5685 (talk) 22:41, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
