Catholic use of 'remission'
[edit]It appears the Catholic church in particular has a very specific use for 'remission' in its theology when used in official capacity. For example, episcopal consecration used to reverse excommunication is termed 'remission' (all when used by standard Catholic definitions for the non-secular senses of each) c.f.
