[edit]Frankly, I think that it's been expanded enough. A show of hands? Curuinor 00:20, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
Dates may be exact though not Gregorian
[edit]Removed this: "Religious festivals are commonly celebrated on recurring cycles in a calendar year or lunar calendar. This means that, because ancient calendars were not very accurate, the exact date of the festival changes each year."
Removed. As stated, this is either misleading or inaccurate. Lunar or other astronomical dates are very accurate, they just don't correspond exactly to the contemporary Gregorian calendar.
This is even an existing joke:
- "When's Hanukkah this year?"
- "The 25th of Kislev, same as always."

Roman festivals
[edit]The section on Roman festivals gives TMI about only two festivals (each of which has its own article) and doesn't give a very clear sense of what a Roman religious festival is, or how many there were on the Roman calendar. This is not something I have time to tackle at the moment, so just a comment for now. Cynwolfe (talk) 23:38, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
"By type"?
[edit]The heading "Religous festival by type" seems a bit lame to me - I'd say "midwinter festival" is a "type", but here the festivals are actually listed by religion or culture. So the heading could be "Festivals by religion", or we could do without this heading (raising the subheadings one level), or the entire article could be restructured to be by "type" (would be an interesting project, but an entirely different approach).--Nø (talk) 08:23, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
