Meaning of word versus explanation of word choice.

I just edited the passage to say "Isaac gave it the name Rehoboth, which means 'open spaces'." This is consistent with the cited source, Robert Alter's book, Genesis, Translation and Commentary, which explicitly gives "open spaces" as the translation of the name of the well. Some previous editor seems to have mistakenly written that the word means, "The Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the Land". That long sentence is a quote from Isaac explaining why he chose the name 'open spaces', but it is not the English translation of the actual three syllable word he chose.
