Is this substantially different from Regression toward the mean? It seems to be the same thing but with less content.62.129.121.63 (talk) 16:11, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to suggest a merger of the two articles. --KSnortum 20:07, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Citation Run Amok

[edit]

Under "Examples", the following sentence

The pain subsiding a little after it has gotten worse is more easily explained by regression towards the mean

does not need citation. It is a simple and obvious conclusion based on the facts of the article and the example given. I call this the citation ad nauseum fallacy. --KSnortum 20:07, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What about a situation where exceptional results have been produced for an extended period? Would it not be reasonable to expect them to continue? There is certainly no logical reason to think that they would end sooner than later simply because they "cannot go on forever". --84.250.188.136 (talk) 01:14, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
