Problems with the list

[edit]

The chair was officially founded by Queen Victoria in 1860, when King's and Marischal Colleges were fused to form the University of Aberdeen. Before that year, there were two professorships: One at King's since 1505 and one at Marischal (founded 1593). At Marischal, the earliest professor I could identify was David Fordyce in 1742. There may have been earlier incumbents, but I did not identify any as of yet. The earliest Regius Professor was a William Martin who occupied the chair at Marischal at the time of enactment of the Universities of Scotland act. John Lee was the last but one Professor at King's and James Beattie was professor at Marischal. Yotwen (talk) 06:31, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
