Is Reginald Van Gleason III a parody of this Vanderbilt?

Jackie Gleason must surely have modeled his top-hatted partier Reginald Van Gleason III after Reggie Vanderbilt. Not only does Gleason's character LOOK like the moustachioed Vanderbilt and sport the kind of formal attire one might imagine worn by an extravagantly wealthy man out on the town, but Vanderbilt's fondness for booze seems tailor made for Gleason's parody. 2601:243:4:E90A:19E3:6C:B87A:6C41 (talk) 06:01, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dangerous driver who ran over people and killed them

It's my understanding that Reggie ran over three different children, two of whom died as a direct result. I think there was no arrest and no trial though.
