As far as "Criticism of the legislative referendums", I must underline that it is NOT the government in office who estabilish the date of vote: it is uncorrect to say that "it will often arrange a date for the vote that is more likely to have a smaller turnout". It is the president of the republic who arrange the date, and it must be placed between april, the 15th and june, the 15th. I'm going to leave the paragraph, because it's true that timing is crucial, but i will remove any word about the government. --BatLo (talk) 19:41, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Im'going to hide the part about merging the referendum and the polls, because (again!) it is not the government who set the date! The President of the Republic cannot be for or against the referendum, so he does not choose the date with these criteria. --BatLo (talk) 19:49, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracies and omissions

[edit]

I'm Italian (sorry for bad English), and I noticed that there are some inaccuracies in this page: a quorum not met isn't equal to victory of the "nays", because a quorum not met leaves open the debate on the question, or means that the question isn't felt by Italians. A victory of the "nays" confirms the laws submitted to referendum, which can't be changed in its philosophy before 5 years later. The will of the voters must still be met for at least 5 years, both the opinion has been favorable, and it was contrary. The only case where this has not been observed was for public financing to political parties. In that situation was not reinstated to the same law abrogated, but was modified an existing one (election expenses) to make it similar to the abrogated one. The change of the electoral system was regular becuse it was done in 2005, 12 years after the last valid question on that topic (1993). Then, should be written that several politicians have called for the abolition on reduction of the quorum and for introduce the proactive referendum. Eventually, too many pages on each our referendum don't exist. Is necessary, in my opinion, at least create the pages for the constitutional referendum of 2001 and 2006 (the latter very important), and maybe another page like this (from the Italian Wikipedia) http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elenco_delle_consultazioni_referendarie_in_Italia --Francesco.qq (talk) 15:04, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistent article names

[edit]

As anyone can check at Referendums in Italy#List of referendums, articles on multiple referendums are sometimes named "Xxxx referendums" and in most cases "Xxxx referendum". I think we should decide what is best and have all articles on multiple referendums have consistent names. Any views on the matter? Please have a say. Personally, I am for the "Xxxx referendums" format, per List of Swiss federal referendums. -- Checco (talk) 14:18, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
