Proposal to merge with reference implementation

[edit]
  • Merge Delete. Go ahead, obviously I did not check closely enough before creating this article. However I do think the title should disambiguate computing, because it is possible to have reference implementations in non-computing contexts. The Hokkaido Crow 20:58, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merge done. The Hokkaido Crow 21:51, 19 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This article is basically unreadable. Simpler English needs to be used.

What

[edit]

WTF? I'm a third year CS student and I can't make sense of this dense jibberish. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.75.0.203 (talk) 13:43, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I attempted to clarify the text - anyone want to check if it makes sense? Lekro (discuss) 23:25, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Reference implementation (computing)Reference implementation — The article doesn't have to reside under a bracket title, when the non-bracket version just redirects here. (While there is the point that there is more types of reference implementations than the software ones: As long as we don't have any content on that...) Current GeoServer website suggests otherwise

[edit]

This page: GeoServer functions as the reference implementation of the Open Geospatial Consortium Web Feature Service standard, and also implements the Web Map Service, Web Coverage Service and Web Processing Service specifications.

Geoserver page: GeoServer is working with the OSGeo Foundation to be certified as compliant and we need your help. Thanks for your sponsorship and donations we are working towards restoring OGC testing into our nightly builds.

Im not that knowledgable about the standards but it seems as though their testing has been taken out and they are currently not OSGeo certified? And so they cant be a reference implementation?

You probably should discuss this on Talk:GeoServer rather than here. -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 12:31, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, I made a mistake adding it here... my apologies
