The original "Smokey and the Bandit" was filmed partially in Redan and the surrounding area in 1977.

Starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field and Jackie Gleason. If you check the movie you will see some of Redan. In particular is a scene with Jackie Gleason in a police car at the intersection in Redan with the road signs clear in the shot.
