The result of the move request was: move to Red oak (disambiguation); redirects changed as suggested. Dekimasuよ! 19:39, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
Red oak → Red Oak – The clear primary topic of "Red oak" (with a lowercase "o") is the group of Oak species. All other topics are either capitalized (all of the towns, and the beer), or comparatively obscure. The snake is commonly known as the copperhead; the Australian tree has a far more limited range, and can be handled in a hatnote. I would move this and redirect the lowercase term to List of Quercus species#Section Lobatae. bd2412 T 20:32, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Support, a search on "red oak" tree demonstrates regular (though arguably inaccuate) capitalisation. Parallel contents of Wikipedia articles also capitalise and I see no significant reason not to go with the majority. Gregkaye ✍♪ 06:19, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- Off-WP sources are all over the map in capitalizing or not capitalizing the names of species. Most general-audience ones do not, so we do not either per MOS:LIFE and the 9-years-in-the-making RFC at WP:BIRDCON. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 08:59, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
- Support in part: Redir Red oak to List of Quercus species#Section Lobatae per nom, but move DAB page to Red oak (disambiguation) and redirect Red Oak and Red Oak (disambiguation) to it. We tend to use the lower case forms as the base DAB page when usage is mixed among the items to be disambiguated. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 08:59, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
- That is also fine with me. bd2412 T 12:10, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
