Article

[edit]

This can probably be expanded into an article like Robin (comics) or Nightwing (although it'll look more like Ant Man) and there is some more information that can be moved here in the section at Red Robin (Kingdom Come) (it makes sense to be here, rather than there). This is more a placeholder to help clarify matters until the article is expanded. Given that there will shortly be a Red Robin title following Battle for the Cowl, you'll want to use this infobox: {{Infobox comics set and title}} (Emperor (talk) 20:22, 13 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Someone has just started Red Robin (comic book). I've updated this... and moved where the series article since it was started at (comic). It may be that this does need to get fleshed out and then the comic merged to here... Though that would mean that. like the Nightwing/Dick Grayson example, the plot summary that will inevitably be in Red Robin (comic book) would need to be held only in Tim Drake... and that article eventually renamed. (up hill I think, very very up hill...) - J Greb (talk) 02:31, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That said we probably do need more separation of characters and eponymous titles, as we have with Batman (comic book) and Superman (comic book). I was thinking of Flash and Green Lantern but this might count (not a big might though - I'd have thought it best to have this as a section on Tim Drake but then it wouldn't allow us to add reviews and the like so we can make a more rounded article with the title separate). We'll have to play it by ear as it is as yet unclear what is happening with these Battle for the Cowl spin-offs - Batman and Robin for example has only been talked about for the first 12 issues. It may just be they didn't want to complicate things with story a year from now but it is also possible these will turn out to be 12-issue limited series with a big Batman event in a years time with Bruce Wayne returning in some form or other and shaking up the Bat titles. Merge the comic book article in

[edit]

Looking at the two articles, as they stand and their edit histories, there is a lot of redundancy going on here.

Currently, this article is very small and likely could be slightly smaller - the character sections could be a little shorter and to the point since they all point to other articles. The article on the comic book itself isn't much bigger. What is in the (comic book) article can easily be slotted in here.

Two other concerns while I'm at it:

  1. Section headers. In all honesty, a "Publication history" is not a character list. Some of the information from there could, and should be separated out into a PH with the rest left in a "Characters" section.
  2. Plot summary. We seem to be bouncing between way too much and way too little. There has to be a happy medium, keeping in mind that some of the more detailed points will likely land in various character articles.

Honestly come on, then why don't we merge the Batman Comic Book with the Batman Article and the Superman Comic Book with the Superman Article, and the Detective Comics article with the Batman and Batwoman article, and the Action Comics article with the Superman, Supergirl, and Superboy article. Why because we don't it's not what we do we try to keep the information of the comic and the character seperate and the information that ties the two in both articles, please do not bias this post I am getting a lot of it currently. --Schmeater (talk) 22:24, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bluntly: Size.
Rolling Batman and Batman (comic book) into one article, along with everything else that has split off from Batman, results in a page with a file size many, many times the recommended upper limit. The same for Superman, Clark Kent, Superman (comic book) and the related Superman titled articles.
That is not the case here. And it is unlikely to happen for a very, very long time.
And your argument for Detective Comics and Action Comics verges on farce.
- J Greb (talk) 22:40, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clearing that up but currently Cameron Scott is not letting me do anything I mean this is a new comic series we need to increase it's size you can go ahead with the merger I won't care but the last time I was with a merger it did not take any information from a previous article. So I suggest you leave it be for the time being and we can get some editors not ourselves to clean up the article make like Batman R.I.P and come back to this. If it is still a problem then we can try the merge but if the merge does not work then I strongly suggest that we split them again. Thoughts? --Schmeater (talk) 23:26, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That was point #2 under "other concerns". And since the over stated summaries were getting updated to both article, waiting to see where the mid-line gets drawn doesn't impact merging. If when the dust were to settle the duplication were to still be there and this article's file size were to be a reasonable size, there would be no good reason for a pair of articles.
- J Greb (talk)
Merge on the grounds of size and redundancy - this article isn't large and there is little other than plot in the comic book article (usually in such cases you'd expand the main article with in-universe material until it looked like there needed to be a split). Equally, the story will be covered in Tim Drake's article, so I'm not sure of what the comic book article is adding. Also see general discussion here. Merge --Cameron Scott (talk) 08:55, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Merge - The articles are small enough that size is not an issue, especially given that all the duplicated information (which is considerable) wouldn't need to be copied. Nutiketaiel (talk) 13:25, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay okay the odds are against me, so merge it just tell me what you would call it. However I would want there to be a small plot summary focusing on the search for Bruce Wayne Issues 1-12 after that I don't care, I would like each arc to be in a small paragraph, if this does not fit your standards let it be, but if the merger seems to be a bad idea then I am saying we should split it off again. --Schmeater (talk) 16:25, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Major image issue

[edit]

Right now we've got 4 images of the character in the article to show what the character looks like.

Now, granted that there are supposed to be 4 different characters in the costume, all 4 images show what amounts to the same costume. All we need is one image.

Looking at what we have:

  • The scan of the Perez art is really too small,
  • The Williams art is to contorted and hidden,
  • The Ross art is a bit "snowy", and
  • The To a bit off color.

Both the Ross and To image can work, though I think the Ross is preferable as it's where the character originated.

What?

[edit]

Article says "He is now the new Red Robin - an identity that is already tarnished and independent of the bat family." I haven't read the book...can someone elaborate on WHY Tim picks this identity a little bit more? Why the hell would he want a tarnished identity? And how is it 'independent' of the 'bat family?' No one in their right mind would use the code name "Red Robin" if it WEREN'T already affiliated with Batman. Because A) it is lame, and B) it's the name of a burger chain. 129.110.241.13 (talk) 15:14, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, in the new continuity he appears to not supposed to be connected to the bat-family. While in Teen Titans #1 he seems to be affiliated, in issue #0 it is supposed to make it clear he was never taken up by Batman as a side kick. So that says nothing about the tarnished aspect, but currently, the name is completely independent of the bat family. Despite the weird connections and prior comments. Tim is still protected by Bruce/Batman, but Tim is not part of that area of Bruce's life. 99.16.81.38 (talk) 14:06, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
