Photographs
[edit]Photographs added to this article should be clearly free. No more fair use images should be used. Images showing the "GO BUFFS" and "BEAT <name>" with the CU logo that Ralphie wears would be excellent. Also, images showing the handlers and the trailer would be appreciated. If you need help with licensing information or uploading images, I would be happy to help. --MECU≈talk 17:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Found on Flickr, thought I'd let you if you liked it before uploading. Feel free to upload to Commons yourself.
- http://www.flickr.com/photos/smoddelmog/270213616/ - Allowed on Wikipedia
- http://www.flickr.com/photos/smoddelmog/270212413/in/set-72157594329246065/ - Not allowed, but same photographer as above so may be able to get to change license (although bad obstruction in photo)
- --NMajdan•talk 22:29, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Nmajdan. I actually am the one that had the uploader change the license on that first image so we could use it on Wikipedia! It's already in the article. I don't really like the second one, though it's fairly good I guess. The guy was really nice so getting him to change that license too wouldn't be a problem. I might do it but I found like 3 or 4 others that would be better before I'd try to get that one too. Thanks for looking though. --MECU≈talk 22:33, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Congratss on getting several good pics into this article already. It is great to see our mascots getting coverage. I just uploaded a new photo of Reveille yesterday. Now I realize our poor Bevo article is starting to fall behind! I need to get back and work on that one some more. Johntex\talk 22:45, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm modifying the request as I've gotten 5 images, but still none with the side of Ralphie that shows "GO BUFFS". I've found a few okay ones on flickr that are slightly blurry, and will use them unless anyone can find something better. --MECU≈talk 00:30, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Bison vs. Buffalo
[edit]The second sentence is incorrect. Buffalo and bison are the same, both have the same Latin name Bison bison. *Exeunt* Ganymead | Dialogue? 14:49, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sticklers tend to make the distinction that "Buffalo" means animals like Water Buffalo, and that the American Buffalo is properly called a "Bison" (and that it is technically incorrect to call it a "Buffalo"). I think that the Buffalo/Bison distinction should probably be referred to in text, but that the way it is done now is poor. "Contrary to the nickname ..." -- Given that Colorado is in the Western United States, I think it should be blatantly obvious that the nickname refers to the American Buffalo (Bison). Since Buffalo is a disambiguation page with Bison as the second entry, we shouldn't get too pedantic. -- 15:21, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- That is incorrect, they do not have the same Latin name. An American bison is Bison bison, while buffalo are in completely separate genera. The Asian Buffalo is the Bubalus arnee while the African Buffalo is the Syncerus caffer . It's like saying a horse is the same as a zebra, but the horse is more closely related to the zebra (of the same genus) than the bison is to the buffalo(of the same family). So can we call Traveler a zebra? It's more correct than calling Ralphie a buffalo.
GA Review
[edit]I don't really see any problems that would keep this from being a GA, so I'll pass it.--Wizardman 17:09, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
"Ralphie" disambiguation page needed
[edit]I searched "Ralphie", looking for something else and it immediately led here, this needs to be changed so that, at the very least, a disambiguation page is linked to at the top of other articles related to "Ralphie". 72.191.116.59 (talk) 05:13, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Unclear sentence
[edit]This sentence is in the "Traditions" section: Colorado is one of only a few schools where the home team comes out team does not get in the way of Ralphie running. That need rewriting/clarification (does it mean to say that other schools' teams get in Ralphie's way?). Funnyhat (talk) 01:43, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
GA? Really?
[edit]I note that there was a somewhat flimsy GA Review in 2007. Honestly, how on earth does this meet the criteria? - Sitush (talk) 11:21, 18 February 2017 (UTC)
Actually, I've pretty much blanked it due to copyright violations of this and other related pages on that website. It appears to have been going on for years. - Sitush (talk) 11:39, 18 February 2017 (UTC)
- It looks like a few people had replaced most of the article with text copied from the university website. I've reverted to a version prior to this and revdeled the intervening revisions. There might still be one or two passages with close paraphrasing (I've just fixed one of them) but I don't think there's any remaining large scale copyright violation. (This does mean you weren't looking at the GA-reviewed prose.) Hut 8.5 22:30, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

Travel to "Atlanta" for University of Georgia game
[edit]Why does the mention of Ralphie visiting Georgia for the Colorado vs Georgia game in 2006 say that they went to "Atlanta, Georgia"? The university and its football stadium is in Athens, Georgia. 2600:1700:FDF1:1FC0:31D2:3B54:53ED:8B20 (talk) 01:22, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
Copyright Violations
[edit]Significant parts of this article were lifted from the CU Boulder athletics website. It also seems a little odd that it's listed as a vital article and as a good article. I'm not a very experienced Wikipedia editor so I'm not entirely sure what happens next. I've added what I think is the correct notice but I don't have the time to rewrite it. It might be alright to remove the sections about the individual Ralphies over time since they were copied, which leaves less to rewrite. Sockwell162 (talk) 22:29, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- I've added notices to the three users responsible for the text:
- It might be possible to revert to September 15, 2018, which has a clean scan (the top match was pulled from Wikipedia) and was before an edit that added a significant amount of copied material. It needs some work, but what article doesn't. Sockwell162 (talk) 22:47, 21 May 2023 (UTC)

Good lord this article is horrifically bad. There is so much unsourced material. Entire sections are just unsourced. Onegreatjoke (talk) 22:02, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- Speedy delist - there was also a sizable history section that recently got nuked for copyvio. Probably best to delist and then someone can make a fresh GAN out of it if it's rewritten. Hog Farm Talk 23:51, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- Speedy delist per Hog Farm. Three maintenance tags, an entire section that should be formatted like a table but isn't, lots of unsourced content... Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 18:26, 10 June 2023 (UTC)

I'm afraid that this review will have to be quickfailed, as it is a long way from meeting GA criterion 2b). There is significant uncited material, including most of the "Ralphie's Run and other activities" section. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 14:35, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
