Should a list of Celebrity Raider Fans Be Added?
[edit]This a nice short article on the Raider Nation. It would interesting see a summary list of celebrity or famous people who happen to be Raider Fans. Such a list would have to include references proving each famous person added to the list is an actual Raiders Fan.
- Bandwagoners arn't a part of Raidernation!--Lamrock 21:56, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Well I don't think that all celebrity Raider Fans are necessarily band wagoners. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.232.200.187 (talk) 00:25, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- List removed, please look at the scope of WP as an ecnyclopaedia, and look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists to see what might be relevant. — billinghurst sDrewth 07:02, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

[edit]The paragraph- Inside the Raider Nation there are many sects of fans. One group of Raider fans are known as the "South Shield". Located at the entrance of the B and C lots. The tailgate consists of great food and drinks as well as the music of "Raiderhed". A live band who plays classic rock songs with a Raider twist. As great as the music is, the best part of the "South Shield" is the food created by resident chef "South Shield Travis". His ribs and brisket have won awards across the Bay Area., needs to be changed to npov or be removed completly, please fix. 69.148.158.112 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 04:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Suggestions for additions to this page
[edit]I'd like to expand this page to include the Culture of Raider Nation, the Lore of the Raiders, and the information about the rivalries between the Raiders and other teams. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.169.25.132 (talk) 20:05, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit]The sections on Raider Lore as well as past players were all cited--there were numerous references or links to current Wikipedia pages. The page on "Raider Nation" is about Raider fans, and the information that has been removed was about the things that Raider fans discuss or talk about.67.169.25.132 (talk) 03:52, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
I forgot to add that each event added under Lore are currently on other Wikipedia pages, such as NFL lore and Chiefs-Raiders rivalry. The idea was to use this page as an aggregate for all the events that Raider fans discuss-events that have sources in mainstream media, or that are listed on Wikipedia pages, such as Wikipedia pages for an NFL postseason.67.169.25.132 (talk) 04:21, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Your copy/paste of the "notable games" from NFL lore constituted a copyright violation per WP:Copying within Wikipedia and needed to be removed. Further, a list of notable games is slightly off-topic for this article, as it is about Raider fans. Please discuss on this talk page and achieve a consensus before making a massive change. - Yes, it is about Raider fans and what Raider fans DISCUSS. Raider fans DISCUSS memorable games. Raider fans DISCUSS legendary players. The idea was to describe the things that Raider fans discuss, so that a non-fan or new fan would know what is being discussed. I could have just as easily created a page dedicated to Raider lore, but decided that it made more sense to relate "lore" to what fans DISCUSS. Moreover, the descriptions were all cited, either with Wikipedia links to the original page or with the news article that it appeared in. I paraphrased the descriptions that I culled from other Wikipedia pages.67.169.25.132 (talk) 00:35, 1 December 2011 (UTC)67.169.25.132 (talk) 00:35, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- What Raider fans discuss is irrelevant, this article is about them, not the games. If Tom Brady had a fascination with lizards, should we include a list of lizard species on his article? Eagles 24/7 (C) 00:53, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

- I think that is a ridiculous argument. The topics of discussion that I included are relative to NFL games and player legacies (note: nicknames are a form of legacy when those nicknames are used in the sports media). Now, if I had included a list of foods eaten by Raider fans--or topics not directly related to player legacies or games--then you're complaint would make sense.
- Moreover, your claim of plagiarism was nonsense. Paraphrasing is not plagiarism when a citation is included. The sources included were from internal links with Wikipedia, ESPN, Fox Sports, Boston Globe, NFL.com, Sports Illustrated, or official websites related to the players or teams. I must question your objectivity and ability to reach consensus. You're clearly an Eagles fan--and I think you're simply edit-warring.67.169.25.132 (talk) 08:14, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- This is about the fans, not the lore. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:43, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- And lore is relative to the fans. Again, you have not established a compelling objection to my additions. I removed any descriptions of the events to address your issue of Copying within Wikipedia. Your claim of relevance, however, is subjective--and I have good reason to believe that you're biased.
- The page on NFL lore, furthermore, states that Lore relates to stories discussed amongst FANS. I have attempted to reach consensus, but I do not believe that you have a sincere interest in reaching consensus, because you're clearly an Eagles fan. My interest is in Lore. Period.
- I believe that Lore should be documented on Wikipedia, even if relative to a fan-base. I like Lore regardless of the team, even Lore for the Eagles. In fact, I argued that "4th and 26" should be included on the NFL lore page, because a claim was made that only Eagles fans would remember that--yet, I remember it and I'm not an Eagles fan.
- The page on NFL lore, however, is limited in scope because the Lore is relative to the league as a whole. Nevertheless, I decided to make additions of Lore to other pages as Sub-subsections, rather than dedicate an entire page to Lore. I could have added Raider lore to the page for the Raiders, but again, the NFL lore page states that lore relates to topics discussed amongst fans, thus, it is relevant to include Raider lore on a page about Raider fans.67.169.25.132 (talk) 07:03, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
- I have requested a third opinion to help resolve this matter. All I can say is, being an Eagles fan, I'd think I'm less biased than you believe, considering I am disinterested in the Raiders and their lore. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:21, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
Re-added list of Lore, nicknames and awards named after former Raiders
[edit]I removed any explanations of events, but kept citations. Each event has a citation from one of the following: internal link with Wikipedia, ESPN, Fox Sports, Boston Globe, NFL.com, Sports Illustrated, or official websites related to the players or teams.
I included a brief explanation of "Raider lore" that I paraphrased from NFL lore.
The list of nicknames and awards should not have been removed in the first place, because it was only a list of internal links to Wikipedia pages.
This page is about Raider FANS. As such, it will include content that will seem important only to fans, but the intent is for this page to explain what Raider fans discuss. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.169.25.132 (talk) 08:03, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- This is not the Oakland Raiders lore page and I implore you to seek a third opinion before re-adding the material again. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:42, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Nevertheless, I decided to make additions of Lore to other pages as Sub-subsections, rather than dedicate an entire page to Lore. I could have added Raider lore to the page for the Raiders. The NFL lore page states that lore relates to topics discussed amongst FANS, thus by transference, it is relevant to include Raider lore on a page about Raider fans.67.169.25.132 (talk) 07:05, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm here from the 3O board. I'd have to concur with Eagles247: the list of memorable plays does not belong in an article about Raiders fans; if you have indeed spread out these references to the articles to the individual articles of the directly-involved players, or the article on NFL lore, that would be a better (though still not necessarily appropriate) place for it. That material is only tangentially related to the subject of the article, which is the Raiders fans themselves; if you disagree, I'd politely suggest you read this article before responding; it describes quite closely the material that you're trying to add. Thanks! Writ Keeper ⚇♔ 02:54, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Removed celebrity list
[edit]I have removed the following list from the article, a celebrity induced list show have a validity to addition, and this would seem to fail that test. — billinghurst sDrewth 06:57, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
