Surtees as a source
[edit]At the moment, the article uses Surtees, Robert (1820). The History and Antiquities of the County Palatine of Durham: volume 2 –– Describes the 21 parishes and chapelries of Chester ward in the north of the county, including Gateshead, Jarrow and other parts of present-day urban Tyneside. London: Institute of Historical Research. p. 220. {{cite book}}

(help) as a source. It is available through http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=76308 British History Online]. Using ctrl+f I was unable to find "Raby" and "Nevill" occured just twice. This is concerning as it looks as if the referenced part of Surtees is irrelevant to this article. - There's some material on p. 109 of a similar titled book by William Fordyce - here. But in either case I'd be treating it with real care, given the age of the source. Hchc2009 (talk) 21:28, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
- The age of the sources is proving to be an issue, the article might need a rewrite. Nev1 (talk) 21:32, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'd agree - there's been enough more recent work on Raby that the article shouldn't be having to rely on 1820s scholarship... Hchc2009 (talk) 21:36, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
