Dispute over the origin just now
[edit]To the IP user whose changes I've reverted: You changed the infobox and lead to claim that this is recipe is of Iraqi origin and that its popularity is limited to Iraq, with the explanation "Two quoted sources in the article mentions that this is an Iraqi Gulf dish, not Levantine." Neither of the sources says that.
- One says "Qoozi is an Arabian Gulf specialty, reflecting the generosity and hospitality of Bedouin Arabs."
- The other says "This is one of the most grand, entertaining and delicious dishes cooked in Iraq." It also says "I have memories of attending Iraqi weddings and seeing rows of whole lambs lined up on mountains of rice with the smells of cardamom, cinnamon and toasted almonds filling the room."
Neither source says anything about the dish's place of origin nor indicates any exclusivity of its popularity to Iraq. Further, read the remainder of the article. Don't you think it would be weird if we were to say the dish is specifically Iraqi only immediately before explaining how it's prepared in Turkey and Saudi Arabia and Yemen and Oman and the UAE and Jordan and Syria? - i only reverted the desrupted modern version to the original one, i did not limit the dish to iraq only, if i did then you would've seen that the countries in the "Region or state" section have been removed and replaced by iraq, which i clearly didn't do that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.236.166.238 (talk) 23:50, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
- That is what you did the first time. Largoplazo (talk) 23:58, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
- i clearly did not replace the countries in the "Region or state" section to "Iraq" only, i only reverted the unexplained changes that happened in 5 June 2016 by an anonymous IP that went unnoticed. this is the original/pre-vandalism version. - The current version is fine, in the context of the point I was making. Your first version was not fine, regardless of your concerns about the version immediately prior to it or about that one edit two years ago. Your two versions are different as shown here. Largoplazo (talk) 00:29, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- how is it not fine?, the sources makes no mention of the "Levant" or "Levantine Countries" to begin with.
- the anonymous IP clearly Vandalized the Article, and i only removed his controversial/unexplained/illogical edits back to the original one.
- the original version of the article makes note that the dish is popular in Iraq, and that it originates in Iraq.
- which is the only thing that i reverted, unsourced additions are against wikipedia's laws. 151.236.166.238 (talk) 00:42, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- It was not fine for the reasons I said above it wasn't fine. I don't know why you're asking again why it wasn't fine when I told you why at the very beginning of this section. (The fact that you were undoing changes someone made two years ago is immaterial to whether your version was correct.) Your latest version remedied both problems that I'd identified, and I said that that version is fine. It differs from your previous version precisely by its correction of the problems that I'd identified. So why are you still arguing? Largoplazo (talk) 01:38, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- you still did not give any logical reason to why it's not fine, as you can see i am just an anonymous IP editor, and i am trying to understand the problem here.
- i understand that the claim that it originated from iraq isn't sourced, but replacing unsourced content with more unsourced content isn't doing anything.
- anyway, this argument is time wasting and useless. 151.236.166.238 (talk) 02:17, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- If you took away from it the understanding that even if something in an article is incorrect, you need to make sure your "corrections" are themselves correct, then it wasn't time-wasting and useless. (If you don't understand why sources failing to state that Iraq is the origin of a dish is a logical reason to reject someone's inferring from them that Iraq is the origin of that dish, then I can't help you.) Largoplazo (talk) 02:27, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
- no one gives a shit about Wikipedia anyway, every article is filled with unsourced added bullshit that went by "unnoticeably".
- if someone reverted that Vandal edit back in 2016, then we wouldn't be in this argument to begin with.
- wouldn't that be bloody helpful?, good day to you sir!. 151.236.166.238 (talk) 02:44, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
