Russian Joke
[edit]What are the two Russian guards talking/joking about? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.82.239.67 (talk) 02:27, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Romanian official: Nid kelmin da bushka. Attendant: Nid kelmin da lushka velt Romanian official: Nid kelmin da bushka ayn zolt! [the men laugh, the attendant looks at his watch] Attendant: M-Mrs. Vladchick? [the men enter and find the open window and no one at all] Romanian official: Dash fam da bushka!
I can't see any RUSSAN word here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.57.56.23 (talk) 19:02, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Why would the Romanian officials speak Russian anyway? But nevertheless, can anyone clarify whether they do speak an actual language, and maybe even translate their lines. -92.226.199.127 (talk) 04:13, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- They don't speak Romanian. It's garbled faking. The only word I could distinguish was "Babushka" or "băbușca". Though I have no idea if they we're referring to the Russian doll or a dated term for "old crone", respectively. "Babă" is the term in use today. Or maybe it wasn't even supposed to mean anything. This needs to be answered — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.255.128.110 (talk) 06:51, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
It has the cadence of a knock knock joke. Kind of. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.59.72.230 (talk) 05:17, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
Three legs scene
[edit]I think the scene where the grandmother has three legs is clearly intended as a joke and is not really a goof. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fengin (talk • contribs) 01:30, 1 December 2006 (UTC).
- agreed, i strongly doubt this happened by accident. — mode.ry talk 22:39, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Trivia
[edit]How are the Dionne Quintuplets a "current" event? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.81.123.57 (talk • contribs) 16:51, 30 December 2006 (UTC).
- They're not a current event but the Romanian quintuplets in the episode are depicted as performers. The Dionne quintuplets were taken away from their parents and put on public display by the Ontario government at "Quintland". Sound familiar? I don't think its an coincidence the plot and title mention Quintuplets, who happen to be performers. It looks like a well placed reference to this event even if it was in the 1930's. To not mention it in the article is to ignore the obvious. Skywayman 04:13, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- I was initially puzzled why the thread starter implied this was posted as a current event. I had made the original post under trivia. That says nothing about a current event. Going through the edit history line by line later I see someone edited this as an example of a current event. Clearly it's not a current event. It's trivia about the title and group of Romanian quintuplets though so I'm restoring it as such with no implication it is a current event. Skywayman 05:02, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Goofs
[edit]"SOUVENIRS" isn't a word in French, so "LES SOUVENIRS" is just as improper as "LE SOUVENIRS". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.112.166.83 (talk • contribs) 00:15, 5 February 2007 (UTC).
"Souvenir" is a word in French. However the use of the definite article ("le souvenir", "les souvenirs") is improper here; the correct form would be "SOUVENIRS". 169.229.54.104 22:37, 16 March 2007 (UTC) Florent
it is a french canadian circus but none of the actors have the canadian body. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.193.166.96 (talk) 04:07, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
Goof
[edit]At the beginning of the episode Kenny, Cartman, Stan, Kevin McCormick and Kyle are all lined up but then it cuts to Sharon Marsh and returns to the boys Kevin is gone and Grandpa Marsh pulls up in his place. I believe this is an obvious goof.
Arias sung by Kenny
[edit]Wouldn't the list of songs Kenny practices/sings during the episode count for something? Alamandrax 16:44, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Episode title
[edit]Please rename this article and remove the "2000" at the end.
The episode is just called "Quintuplets".

Trivia
[edit]Cite for any of this stuff?
Kenny's death
[edit]One of the American soldiers who was supposed to bring Kenny back to America nearly succeeds, but after finding Kenny and his mother in a closet in Romania, just as happened to the quints, the soldier's gun slips and he shoots Kenny repeatedly.
Cultural references
[edit]- The song which Kenny sings at the beginning of the episode is Con te partirò by Andrea Bocelli, and he sings "La donna è mobile" by Giuseppe Verdi in order to pay for his trip to Europe. While in Europe, Kenny first sings the Figaro Aria "Non piu andrai" from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro then the end of the famous Queen of the Night Aria (Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen) from Mozart's The Magic Flute.
References to pop culture
[edit]- The way the quintuplets are displayed to the public eye behind a fence is reminiscent to the real story of the Dionne Quintuplets, the first quintuplets in the world to survive more than a few days. The Dionne sisters were raised by Dr. Dafoe, who took advantage of their fame to display them in a sort of human theme park, known as "Quintland".
Currently relevant episode
[edit]This was the first episode of South Park to consciously take advantage of quick production turnaround to reference a (then) current event. Trailers for the episode indicated that the plotline revolved around the quintuplets' ability to clone themselves through some form of mitosis. In the wake of the Elián González incident, though, especially the circulation of a photo showing a BORTAC Agent with an MP5 submachine gun pointed toward Elián, Stone and Parker quickly jettisoned this story idea and hurriedly re-wrote, re-animated, and re-dubbed the episode, going as far as having Janet Reno in an Easter Bunny costume, an obvious dig at the fact that the Elián González incident took place over Easter weekend. Stone and Parker had previously taken advantage of the show's fast production capabilities with Are You There God? It's Me, Jesus, though they had done this simply for the sake of being able to spend New Year's eve with their families. This episode marks the first time Stone and Parker would intentionally create a "currently relevant" episode, which quickly became a hallmark of the series.
Elian Gonzalez affair
[edit]This episode is a parody the Elian Gonzalez affair, in particular this iconic scene is recreated numerous times throughout. As well as the portrayal of Janet Reno.
The connection is clear, but I'm not prepared to fight over it, or go hunting for sources. So you can remove it if you want, I only added it whilst I was watching the episode, not gonna lose sleep over it, cheers. Ryan4314 (talk) 23:07, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Fuck it, I lied, turns out I was bothered to go find sources. Here's some news sources, some less reputable than the others but enough to meet the criteria for a South Park article [1][2][3][4] ;) Ryan4314 (talk) 23:15, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- I should add, these sources actually indicate that the show's creators were parodying the Elian Gonzalez affair and aren't just links to google hits, reviews or episode summarys. Ryan4314 (talk) 13:16, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- If you've gone to the bother of sourcing, why not now cite too? Alastairward (talk) 13:47, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- I was hoping all the other people who've been trying to add it would use these references, therefore also indicating some kind of consensus. Saying that, the article could use a bit of a C/E at the moment. Ryan4314 (talk) 17:41, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- If you've gone to the bother of sourcing, why not now cite too? Alastairward (talk) 13:47, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think you need consensus, be bold, the links look fine. Alastairward (talk) 18:30, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- I was "bold" before but someone removed it. LOL well it's all sorted now tho :) Ryan4314 (talk) 19:01, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- Cited, not sorted... Also, do we have to have Janet Reno's face in here? Alastairward (talk) 13:14, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- I posted the pic to prove the link to you, and you're not allowed to edit talk page comments, so yes, yes we do. Also this issue is now sorted, because it's been cited, goodbye. Ryan4314 (talk) 18:45, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Well... yes, that's kind of the point, you didn't cite last time. But thank you for doing so now. Alastairward (talk) 16:32, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
