Survey

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
  • Weak oppose. Just because there is an English name in addition to the Indonesian name, that doesn't mean that the English name is more commonly used in English. Evidence required. Menawhile, no case has been made for the move. Andrewa (talk) 08:38, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Support. The WP Indonesia en - regularly has new articles created that have Indonesian titles - which to the average non-Indonesian speaker mean absolutely nothing - Indonesia literacy or knowledge of internal acronyms, or terms for those outside the Indonesian cultural sphere is severely restricted - consequently - it is much better practice to have English titles to articles and the Indonesian titles as redirects (rather than vice versa) - if an Indonesian speaker types in the familiar title - they will get the redirect. Discussion

Any additional comments:

This is essentially a request to undo a previous, unilateral move, so I'm inviting the person who did it to participate in this discussion. Presumably they had reasons. Andrewa (talk) 08:42, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Neutral. To be honest, I never heard "Miss Indonesia Universe", so I don't really know which one is better. If it is to be moved, it might cause confusion to the similarly titled Miss Indonesia (but of course we can put up a notice linking to the similarly titled Miss Indonesia before the article). I know this might be indirectly related - I got to agree with SatuSuro, that the Indonesian titles mean nothing to the non-Indonesian speakers, but some Roman Catholic Church's documents in English Wikipedia have latin titles instead of being translated into English which also caused some people not to understand the title fully (including myself), and I am sure we'll find a lot more titles in the native language of the article's origin. Then again, seeing this list [1], most of the titles from other countries are translated into English. No matter, I'll go with the majority. Anyway, I am off to Cambridge. w.tanoto-soegiri (talk) 13:35, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Citations Needed

I've added citation needed templates in this article, since most of the claims on representatives/candidates' special awards from their international competitions included/listed in here remain un-sourced.

Puteri Indonesia

Hi @HiChrisBoyleHere:, to stop the disambiguation on the last edits you made on Puteri Indonesia first section, I changed the section with more reliable source made by official government website like People's Consultative Assembly of The Republic of Indonesia (On 3rd Paragraph here)[1] it was mentioned that Puteri Indonesia 2020 is RR. Ayu Maulida Putri, Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan 2020 is Putu Ayu Saraswati and Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2020 is Jihane Almira Chedid. There was no runners up anymore since 2007 edition, instead they prefer to use 3 different titles as the main top 3 winner named; Puteri Indonesia, Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan and Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata. Hope you understood...--Lukewon (talk) 17:55, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

The image use policy states that galleries should not be used as "indiscriminate collections of images of the subject". It seems to me this covers a collection of over forty past titleholders. Perhaps retsining a reasonable number of notable individuals or the previous several titleholders instead would be consistent with the policy? ☆ Bri (talk) 12:32, 14 July 2022 (UTC)
