Peach's Family?

Seems someone got a little wise on us, and desided to scribble down the following line in the articles setup:

|Family= Grandmother
Mario (Husband)

The above text is foolish. She is [as far as we know] single, and has no children. For goodness sake, its highly unlikely that she could be the mother to the koopalings, and is not the husband to bowser. See the question below for information or her 'marriage' to bowser. Corrected this information.

Bowser Junior belives Peach to be his mother (see manual for NSMB:DS). Shouldn't this be mentioned?86.135.209.39 (talk) 20:31, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

She did marry Bowser in Super Paper Mario. Nintendo stated that their divorce was finalized shortly before Super Mario Galaxy. And since there has been ZERO evidence of a relationship between her an Mario (only an attraction), how can they be considered anything to each other? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.247.202.127 (talk) 23:11, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Princess "P"

After watching The Trojan Koopa I noticed that she said, "Princess P to the rescue", I have found no other comments about this on the internet, and should not need to quote my sources, considering I found this out myself. The SMB:SS was aired in 1989, and may be the first time she notes that there is a "P" in her formal name. As far as I know, all this information is very correct, if you wish to check this for yourself, the episode is [as far as I know] viewable online on YouTube. But, you allready knew that. I have the original show, and am not relying only on internet episodes. The only visible internet 'source' [allthough I did not find it there] seems to be the WikiPedia article "The Trojan Koopa" as this matter is noted in the "Trivia/Goofs" segment. --74.209.0.245 02:15, 26 July 2007 (UTC) Micov

You know, since the Brawl vid shows her in action, she, like, has to be playable. It doesn't make any sense. Why would they put Peach in the vid rushing into the field with Princess Zelda if she's not playable. And, Anubiz, it should be "Brawler". Luv, Ivyluv

OK!! THAT IS IT!!!!! She is in Brawl!! I am going to put her name on the list as playable. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ivyluv (talkcontribs).

She's playable. She was confirmed a few minutes ago on Smash Bros. Dojo. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.105.20.209 (talkcontribs).

Question and Suggestion

First, I have a question about the statement in the article that Peach's "grandmother" in Super Mario RPG is neccesarily her biological grandmother because I always took the statement to be like a pet name for a nanny, which I think is a strong possibility that needs to be adressed. Secondly, I think it would be really nice to include a list of non-playable appearances though it might be sevral. 68.53.227.224 18:21, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

In the Super Mario World TV series

In one episode od the TV series Super Mario World, she was a teacher of a school of some sort, but was out of employment in the next.

The old cartoon shows had no continuity, they were purely episodic, so what happens in one episode is limited to that episode. On a side note, the episode you're refering to, "A Little Learning" was the second last episode; and the one after that was a flashback episode, so it didn't say anything about Princess Toadstool's employment status. -- VederJuda 21:57, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

Hair Color

I fixed some inaccuracies in the article. Peach has always been depicted as a blonde in the games since her initial appearance in Super Mario Bros.. Her sprite had brown hair in the NES games due to color limitations (the artwork clearly depicted otherwise), but it's pretty clear in Super Mario World and onward. Jonny2x4 23:37, 9 November 2005 (UTC)

I actually think it was Princess Daisy in the original NES game. Not only is her hair brown or red (which you attribute to the NES color limitations), but the Super Mario Bros. (film) damsel in distress was Princess Daisy, even though Wikipedia says that she didn't make her debut until years after the film. 72.240.73.103 22:13, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Daisy debuted years before the film in Super Mario Land. It's definately Peach in Super Mario Bros; and she had red hair at the time, though her natural color is blonde. Like Princess Sally, she apparently used to like to dye her hair. 75.129.168.18 09:07, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
I remember from my youth that one of the Nintendo gamebooks explicitly referred to her having "strawberry-blonde" hair—i.e. a very light red colour. However, since I had about three of them, I can't quite recall which one!—Jordan Gray (talk) 23:15, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Technically, she's not blonde. Her hair color, now, is yellow. Blonde is a mix between yellow and orange. Her artwork shows her as blonde, but now her animations give her golden hair at best. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.247.202.127 (talk) 23:14, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Excess bolding of character names

This is something that has started recently and I'm wondering if anybody knows the Wiki policy on it: excess name bolding. I don't know why, but some Wiki editors find it necessary to make Peach name (an any variation thereof) bold throughout the article. I can understand doing it once at the beginning at the article, but not throughout. So unless any of you frequent bolders can justify why you're keen on this, I move to stop it. Kidicarus222 00:49, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Comparison images

Thanks for changnig the main image, Jonny2X4. It totally wasn't necessary. The comparison image was the result of a certain other user's meddling, but I think it's much better to have the most recent available image big and in the top right corner. Kidicarus222 03:41, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

Yeah. I thought the composite image was nauseating and rather redundant. I mean, they were basically just different depictions of what was basically the same character design. I mean, if someone wants to add picture of every incarnation of the character, they could've easily just created a gallery box. Jonny2x4 06:44, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

"Baby Peach" vs "Baby Princess"

Does it really matter that no one calls her "Baby Peach" within the context of the game? Other than Baby Bowser calling her "Princess Peach" at the beginning of the game, the only characters to refer to her are the two Toadsworths. And Toadsworth never calls her "Peach", only "(the) princess" (unless there's something in Superstar Saga I'm forgetting). The character is still Peach as a baby, so wouldn't it still make sense to call her "Baby (Princess) Peach"? Agent CH 19:41, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

If the game itself doesn't mention it, it's not the official name. Toadsworth does call her Peach in Super Mario Sunshine, so that's a moot point. Toadworth may be the only character to differentiate, but the text upon rescuing her is "You saved the Baby Princess!", meaning it's not just the Toadsworths, but the way it's recognized.

... Actually, I take that back. Yoshi's Island 2's official site calls her "Baby Peach". However, this may not appear in the final version or in-game, so we should wait until it's released before changing anything. If the name "Baby Peach" stays, I'd think that perhaps "Baby Peach" is informal, while "Baby Princess is formal, both referring to the same being.

Peach's bottom

I'm wondering. Is it really necessary to say that Princess Peach wears a thong or that her bottom jiggles when she runs?? I hardly find this to be informative about the character, yet there is a trivia section devoted to these topics. I'd go ahead and revert it myself, but I would like to know what others' opinions of this are. --SaturnYoshi 14:36, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

We should restore it. Just add more than that to the Trivia section. User:Coconutfred73

It seems to me that the thing about the thong is worthless, but perhaps the bottom jiggling/"fixing the camera" behind her should stay, since it could be called a "cheat."69.34.177.74 19:35, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Okay, but cheats are game guide material, and should not be on Wikipedia. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 00:14, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Was Leslie Swan's voice re-used? It sounds completely different and she says different words.

JasonXV 00:55, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

It was re-recorded for the game. Some of her lines were also changed, like when she said "Yoshi" at the end instead of "Mario". The credits also list Leslie Swan instead of Jen Taylor. -SaturnYoshi 03:07, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Nurse Peach.

I'm not planning to add this to the article myself because I don't know where I should put it. But on the part of the article relating to Peach's outfits I think that her obscure nurse outfit (or maybe even her profession as one) should be mentioned. In the instruction manual for the original Dr.Mario an illustration depicts Peach in a pink nurse outfit, this created false rumors that Peach was an "unlockable" character. Despite this Peach did not make an appearance in the game. In the Nintendo Comics System comic featuring Dr.Mario Peach made a second appearance in this outfit. Peach proclaimed that she was going to be a nurse but stated that it was "strictly volunteer work" explaining that she had more important duties as a princess and was not mentioned ever again. More recently Peach has appeared as a nurse on the promotional website for Dr.Mario and Puzzle League. Also despite this Peach did not make an appearance in the game. Peach has so far not made any game appearances in this outfit. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.154.41.15 (talkcontribs) .

They didn't divorce. Peach just considers the wedding a sham, and says it's unnofficial. But they are still married.--Ridley76 15:10, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

I agree with Ridley76, she [as we know] is the ruler of the monarchy, and being the ruler, she, over all, would be able to judge if a marriage is valid or not. And considering there is no true government official, priest, minister, or rabbi to preform the marriage [Since when is Count Bleck licensed or 'allowed to preform marriage?]. Not to note that there is no "formal ceremony". And in some [or, most] places [apart from villages and other places where a forced marriage is 'traditional', and in the case of a Betrothal] in the world, forced marriages are not held valid.

Differences in Mario Party

This line "However, like all Mario Party games, she has nothing outside of appearance and voice to set her apart from other characters." is completley inaccurate. In at least Mario Party 7, Peach and Daisy have a special Fire Flower item that only they can use. This distinguishes her from the other charachters. Someone with more experience with all the Mario Party games please update this to reflect her different items in all the games. Please. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.28.111.251 (talk) 19:00, 28 March 2007 (UTC).

When does Peach ever "remove her crown and strike opponents with it"? I can't tell if this is an error or if I'm just mistaken, so I'm not going to change it.

Dude902 21:28, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

When you attack with her aerial Forward + A attack, she takes her crown off of her head and swiftly swings it downwards, and then places it back onto her head. Disaster Kirby 21:57, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

I was thinking the same thing. The main image should be a picture of what Peach generally looks like, not in some spinoff game. Also, we should remove one "Paper Peach" image, since they're too identical. There are two Paper Peach images, one from PM2:TYD and the other from SPM, but why do we need to of the almost same picture? magiciandude (Talk) (review) 15:41, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

If either of you have read the talk page for the Super Smash Bros. series article, then you would know that there isn't enough evidence of Peach being a playable character yet. Now, before you try to refute that with the fact that she was in the recent Subspace Emissary video clip, that was an FMV. It didn't show any gameplay whatsoever, only plot bits for single player mode. It's fairly obvious that she'll be playable, but we don't have any proof of that yet. We just have to wait until she's either seen in a gameplay-related screenshot or her character profile is put on the official site. Disaster KirbyTalk 20:50, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Brawl Picture

There's some argument as to where the Brawl picture should go. My advice is to take out the Melee picture and replace it with the Brawl picture, I see little point in having both, and the Brawl picture is more recent. -- VederJuda 19:12, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

To be honest, I think that the Brawl image doesn't have much of a reason to be in the article at all. Peach, along with several other characters in Smash Bros. are appearing as more-detailed versions of their current series' appearance, as seen with Mario, Yoshi, and Bowser. So the Brawl image is essentially just a more detailed version of the current lead image. The Melee image, on the other hand, is rather different than how Peach normally looks in the main Mario series. The whole "this picture is more recent" argument is rather bad to begin with, anyway. Disaster KirbyTalk 19:22, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

I think we should keep both pictures so people will be able to see the how her dress was improved. Yuna359 03:06, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

That does not matter. I'd say delete the Brawl picture now, wait until Brawl is released, then replace the Melee picture with the Brawl picture. SpinyMcSpleen 04:26, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
i don't think replacing the melee picture with the brawl picture is a good idea Yuna359 18:09, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Really, it's a matter of one versus the other. For instance, Mario has only his Brawl picture, even though many public-domain pictures of his other Super Smash Bros forms exist. Too many pictures clutter an article. SpinyMcSpleen 03:05, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
i still think the brawl picture should be there 71.194.137.245 22:28, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Well, since the SSBB demo has been released, we should replace the Melee w/ the Brawl look. Also, her dress is more than just more heavily detailed, she has, like, 3 more layers on her dress! Instead of replacing it, just put the Brawl pic under the Melee pic... and besides, marios pic is as said before,"is essentially just a more detailed version of the current lead image." Ivyluv 15:39, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Super Princess Peach

Considering that it is so far the only game in which she is the main protagonist and titular character, I think that the article should make a little more mention of it. When reading through it, one barely notices it. Lore aura 17:12, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Too many pictures

This article relies too heavily on pictures. I can think of three offhand that are not necessary at all -- the Brawl picture, the Super Show picture, and the Super Mario RPG picture. I thought I should mention this here before I deleted anything. SpinyMcSpleen (talk) 19:53, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Disregard. I have removed those three pictures from the article. SpinyMcSpleen (talk) 20:03, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

I waited a week and a half -- no one seemed to care. Of course, someone takes notice after I've removed the pictures. I would like you to explain precisely why the pictures are necessary. SpinyMcSpleen (talk) 20:48, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, no one will think this talk section exists from clear to the bottom of the talk page. The article doesn't rely too heavily on pictures, although there is a little too much. I say we just remove one, the Super Mario RPG picture perhaps? Flare13 (talk) 04:42, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

I don't quite know what you mean by your first sentence, however, I still don't think that all of these pictures are necessary. I still say we get rid of the three I proposed we remove (all of which have managed to worm their way back into the article, I might add). It's not as if I'm suggesting we take all of the pictures away, just a few that are not serving any sort of purpose, other than to remind us what Peach looks like. SpinyMcSpleen 19:22, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Can you explain why two of these pictures are useless? Flare13 05:39, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I believe I just did that, but, in the interest of clarity, I shall explain further. All that one needs to know is that Peach was present in the Super Show and will be present in Brawl. There do not need to be pictures of her appearances therein. According to Wikipedia guidelines, a picture is only necessary if something needs to be seen in order to be explained. Everyone who reads the article will already know that Peach has appeared in one and will appear in the other - pictures are not necessary to demonstrate that. SpinyMcSpleen 05:45, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Well that gives reason for the TV picture, but the Super Smash Bros. Brawl picture seems fine, since it needs to be seen in order to be explained. Flare13 02:55, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Fine. At least the RPG picture is gone. SpinyMcSpleen 03:39, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

First appeared in Mario Bros.?

Princess Peach first appeared in the game Donkey Kong which was released in the early eightees as arcade game, on NES, C64 and perhaps some more gaming platforms. She was the girl to be rescued by Mario - who also had his first appearence in this game. In DK she was called Pauline, one of the several names Nintendo gave to her. --- Sir Raven —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.192.203.106 (talk) 15:45, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Peach's current VA...

Didn't it change? Isn't she voiced by Samantha Kelly (not to be confused with a character from the Bold and the Beautiful of the same name)? If you look at the credits for Galaxy, Party 8, and Strikers Charged, there's no mention of Nicole Mills being Peach's VA anywhere (and the name "Samantha Kelly" comes up in all of those games). And apparently (although I can't confirm this) the ending credits of Brawl say that she's Peach's VA. Can someone back me up on this, because I think that I'm right... I'm definitely sure about Samantha (or Sam, according to IMDB) Kelly being the voice of Peach in Party 8 and Strikers Charged, and there's a 75% chance that she was also Peach's VA in Galaxy. Guess that I'll have to wait til Brawl comes out in 12 days before I change anything. ChromeWulf ZX (talk) 04:00, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Peach's Brawl Colors---and everyone elses' (Please do not erase!)

Now, this might be trivia, a spoiler, or it might belong on the Brawl or series page, but possibly, somewhere on each of the character's page, in the Smash Bros. section, shouldn't we put the character's alternate colors for their outfits/costumes(in Wario's case, alternate colors and alternate costume colors)? ♥,Ivyluv (talk) 19:08, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Peach's costumes are color changes, Wario's is an alternate costume with its own unique color changes. - A Link to the Past (talk) 17:40, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Do we know if Mills still voices Peach?

Seriously, do we? Peach was voiced by Samantha Kelly in almost all of 2007 (minus Super Paper Mario). Additionally, there's a good chance that Kelly also voiced Peach in Brawl. There's a video on YouTube (which isn't exactly a verifiable/recommended reference) that has the alleged credits for The Subspace Emissary in Brawl. [2] In it, Samantha Kelly shows up under the VA list. (I'll have to verify this myself when I beat SSE) Given this knowledge (with the exception of possibly Mario Party DS; could someone look into this?), shouldn't it say Nicole Mills (2005-2006) and Samantha Kelly (2007-present) for the time being? Toadstool vs. Peach?

I always knew her as Toadstool until they started calling her Peach on the N64... is there any reason why they changed her name? If so, I'd like to see that added.--207.47.151.197 (talk) 01:25, 17 June 2008. (UTC)

yeah im with you, it was toadstool for like 20 years. what gives? i think most people know will be searching for princess toadstool and not this fruity name. --71.65.102.187 (talk) 03:05, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Toadstool is her last name. Smurai Cerberus 08:12, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

I believe that she was called Princess Peach all along in Japan, and they decided to incorporate this into the English version by making Peach her first name and Toadstool her family name. Mhavril39 (talk) 05:31, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

However, Toadstool is no longer a facet of the series. - A Link to the Past (talk) 06:09, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

I remember trying to edit in that in Super Mario RPG, when one boss, Belome, eats her temporarily, he says that she tastes "Peachy". Someone deleted it, but I feel it might have significance to her name changs. Perhaps if someone else agrees, they could add it in a more appropriate manner. Does Peach wear a thong?

Well, I believe that the display of buttocks (which can be seen if someone had on a thong) would be quite objectionable for younger gamers, so E-rated games obviously don't allow sexual images (which may also include nudity or partial nudity), and that Mario games are not meant to have sexual material. If Peach was seen in undergarment (at least a glitch in some games), I think it would really extend to the upper thighs (like a corselette that was fashionable in the past, but can still be used in fantasy). So I would have to believe that Mario games are so not meant to have any sex-related material, whatever's being seen. --PJ Pete December 6, 2008, 3:59

I don't see how the above discussion is relevant to the fact that she wears a thong in some of the sports titles. Also, what's supoosed to be in this article is very subjective. Some people think it's nessesary to include ALL information while others just want that bit of information THEY think is proper. As long as the information is correct, I don't see a reason why to exclude certain information. If it has been shown in the game, then it belongs in this article I believe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mobile11 (talkcontribs) 11:31, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. Please understand, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. This means that simply being "true" is not enough to establish notability for inclusion in an article. Wikipedia has verifiability policies which require that any information (particularly controversial or minority viewpoints) be thoroughly and reliably referenced by third-parties. These policies not only help verify the accuracy of the information contained within an article, but it also helps establish the importance, notability, and relevance of that information within the context of the article.
For example, your edit stated that "She caused a bit of controversy." First, information should never be "in-universe" as if a fictional character actually exists. Second, you state that the thong caused "controversy". According to whom? In what capacity was it controversial? What evidence is there of this controversy? How is this statement anything other than a gratuitous excuse to say "thong" in an article? Without proper citations, none of this information can be corroborated and amounts to original research (i.e. novel synthesis of available information using your own interpretations). Original research introduces biases, inaccuracies, misinterpretations, etc. into articles and is strongly forbidden by Wikipedia's polices. In the future, please take care to find proper references to cite when adding information to articles on Wikipedia.

Dear Lord... OK, I kinda understand what you say there. So what proof do you need in order to write that she has a thong in certain sports titles? I mean, it's not uncommon for Wikipedia to quote reviewers' opinions about a game's quality. I don't really see the difference in this case. Peach's thong doesn't have anything to do with biases and misunderstandings. She's wearing one.

We're back to the fact that some people (or a group of people) here seem to think they've a right to decide what is proper for a certain article and not. So if you notice that Peach has different hair styles, or that she wears a thong, exactly what do you need to put that information on your Wikipedia? EDIT MADE BY MOBILE11

Love Interests

Well, in the Mario adventures games prior to Super Mario RPG, she falls in love with Mario or Luigi depending on which of the two rescue her, although in SMRPG and later games was when her love interest was Mario in the entire game, and that Luigi's love interest for Daisy became official in Mario Kart Wii and for games released after that. --PJ Pete December 15, 2008, 0:09

Appearance and Wardrobe

The "Appearance and Wardrobe" section is just about the most fan-wanky thing I've ever read. Is all that really necessary? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.232.210.15 (talk) 23:59, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Agreed. It should be removed.--72.138.241.12 (talk) 18:36, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah this is getting a little out of hand (Have you read it recently!?) Someone needs to either remove it or remove all these odd edits preferably somone with Roll back rights. --Climax Void . —Preceding undated comment was added at 21:57, 15 February 2009 (UTC).

I un-wanked it a bit, removing all the bullcock about her panties and thongs and stuff. It's now cleaned up, and tells everything we need to know. (Combo Pwner (talk) 18:50, 28 February 2009 (UTC))

Brawl Peach

That Peach, which I presume is an alternate world Peach from the Peach in the Mario games(and the other SSB Peach's),has a ring on her middle finger which can be clearly be seen when she stops Shiek and Fox from fighting before she gives them tea. That's not her ring finger but..Possibly she is engaged? 98.14.15.12 (talk) 17:15, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Princesses wear jewelry. I doubt Nintendo will marry her off as it'll tick off a lot of Nintendo Geeks. If they did marry her there will be a big announcement." Lucky Foot (talk) 09:19, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Is "Toadstool" her last name?

In her letter in 64,it seems like she's addressing herself as if Toadstool is her last name, and Peach her first. 98.14.15.12 (talk) 21:35, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

I read that Mario's last name is Star so (if Mario and Peach are married) Peach's should be Star too.

Okay, Mr. Unsigned Lie, Mario's last name is Mario. His name is Mario Mario. There are various sources (Super Mario Bros. movie, Super Show, comics, Nintendo Power, guides, and instruction manuals) that prove this. Apple8800 (talk) 12:48, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Mario has no last name. This has been confirmed. The movie propagated that last name thing that has plagued fans and some uninformed localizers since. As for Peach, it's very common in fanon for Toadstool to be her last name, but I'm unsure if there's any actual official support for it. I always thought Toadstool was a nickname of sorts. 144.80.136.253 (talk) 03:52, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

I've added a creation and conception section, because I didn't know where else to put it, hope that's fine. Feel free to place the info elsewhere if it fits. How To Clean Up The Princess Peach Article?

It says that the article should be cleaned up due to Wikipedia's standards. How can I help? --99.192.94.246 (talk) 00:24, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

"This article looks pretty good. It's probably out of date tags." Lucky Foot (talk) 09:09, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Relationship with Mario

Shouldn't it be mentioned somewhere in the article that Mario and Peach are shown to be in a romantic relationship? I think so, because that's a notable aspect of her character and role in the series. 162.83.251.100 (talk) 00:09, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
