Speculation
[edit]This article contains a lot of speculation. Where and what are the sources ? Hektor 07:30, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- After rereading this story of Antoinette as the evil sister, I would even say that what is stated is incoherent, if indeed she believed that Gisèle Pascal was infertile, what better way to have her son on the throne than to favor this relationship ? No, really, this looks strange ... Hektor 11:16, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
The information comes from the book "Palace" written by her son Christian in 1984.Royalpirate 10:30, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- If this is the case, it would nice to put a bibliographical reference in the article (ISBN, page, etc). Thanks for the heads up. Hektor 10:40, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Massey, Baron Christian de and Higham, Charles; Palace: My Life in the Royal Family of Monaco; New York, Athaneum, 1986 ISBN 0-689-11636-5 (I own a first edition, which is in right front of me) Dick Kimball (talk) 21:13, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
Marriages and issue
[edit]Jean-Charles Rey may have written something, but his occupation was politician. He was a member of Monaco's legislature for many years and decidedly an opponent of Prince Rainier III. Dick Kimball (talk) 21:01, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
"Three illegitimate children were born from this union..." One would have thought that the marriage of Princess Antoinette and Alexandre-Athenase Noghès in December 1951 would have retroactively rendered their three children legitimate. Dick Kimball (talk) 17:19, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Aha, it did! Quoting the page on her son Christian: "Although he was born out of wedlock, his parents married in 1951, thus legitimizing him..." Dick Kimball (talk) 17:19, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Style and Titles of Princess Antoinette's children
[edit]Why are Princess Antoinette's children not entitled to the style of Baron or Baroness? I thought she was specifically created a Baroness to allow her children to bear titles ? --Ashley Rovira (talk) 06:58, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Princess Antoinette's son Christian ("Buddy") was created Baron de Massey and as far as I have been able to determine still holds that title. And no, she was specifically created a baroness by Prince Rainier in order to interfere with her attempts to usurp Prince Rainier's rule of Monaco. Dick Kimball (talk) 15:31, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- I would argue that all 3 children would be entitled to the style Baron/Baroness as the children of someone who held the title of Baroness of Massy which is the tradition in continental Europe. Since they were legitimated by their parents marriage, they would be entitled to use the title. Also, Elisabeth-Anne was a baroness from the time of her first marriage until the time she remarried. I don't know if they need to be identified by their father's name since they legally changed their name to de Massy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.174.186.32 (talk) 07:02, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
I believe all the children of Princess Antoinette are entitled to use the title of Baron / Baroness de Massey. Looking at official webpage of the princely house of Monaco, it describes them as such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.147.60.191 (talk) 20:07, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
- The chief of 'Journal de Monaco' said to me yesterday : only HSH Princesse Antoinette have the title of 'Baroness of Massy', her children have just the name "de Massy" and no title. Look the french Wikipedia. Brice-Royal (talk) 08:56, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
