Logo Needs Updating
[edit]This page needs the current Pratt School of Engineering logo. The 'doorway logo' displayed needs to be removed from the system as it is no longer used and has been fully and permanently replaced by the logo at this URL: Pratt School of Engineering Logo (as used on official, verified Twitter acccount) Meschreiner (talk) 19:22, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
Let the games begin
[edit]- Just wanted to start a discussion page, primarily to take on the topics of
- 1) whether there should be pages for the different buildings versus putting that information all in one article, and
- 2) why the notes all disappeared.

- No, there shouldn't be pages for different buildings. Despite the fact that I started some of them, I regretted it and added their info to the main Pratt page. However, I was too lazy to nominate them for deletion, so feel free to do so. On the other hand, LSRC and CIEMAS may merit their own pages since they are more interdisciplinary (so don't fit perfectly on Pratt page) and also have other images on their own pages that cannot be found on this one. Hudson and Teer should be deleted. -Bluedog423 22:29, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- I tend to agree that neither Teer nor Hudson should be different pages. I'm not sure LSRC or Fitzpatrick should be either - unlike buildings such as the Chapel, Nasher, Cameron, or Baldwin, I don't know that either has or will have a "life of their own," so to speak. Of course, I practically live in Fitzpatrick, so...DukeEgr93 00:17, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Dr. G. Great to have you helping out with the Duke wiki. We could use somebody to really spruce up the Pratt page.
- Oh - just looking over the edits and whatnot, I think Bluedog423 has done a fairly ridiculous amount of sprucing up (and, in my case, pruning ;) ) the page. I would award one of those Barnstar things if (a) I thought I had been on long enough to legitimately do so and (b) if I had been on long enough...to know how to do so. I do have some ideas for subordinate pages and whatnot for Duke UniversityDuke and for Pratt, and since it is the summer... Might even have the time to do some of them.DukeEgr93 03:20, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Is the mention of Hudson being the oldest engineering building accurate? I seem to recall a sketch of Southgate as well as an even older (and no longer standing) building on the wall in Teer.
- Clearly, Hudson is not the oldest building that engineering has ever been taught in (engineering has been taught since 1903 and Hudson was built in 1948). However, I think the "oldest engineering building" is meant to imply that it is the oldest building that still teaches engineering. If you want to clarify this, go for it. -Bluedog423Talk 21:09, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
The Buildings
[edit]So, assuming the buildings should generally show up on this page, would people want a fuller history of each one? Fitzpatrick is easy (and blessedly short). I am sure I can dig through the archives on Old Red (sorry - Hudson Hall) to put some things on there. I'll take some pictures to add too. Let me know if I should wax historical. - Sounds good to me. Add as much as you'd like. I took the liberty of redirecting Hudson and Teer, so those pages no longer exist. I'll hold off on CIEMAS and LSRC for now..... -Bluedog423 14:41, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
