[edit]I have done my best to "clean up" this article and to remove obvious NPOV problems. (The man is obviusly a bastard, and it comes out clearly even when the article is re-written in the most objective way I could make it and without the emotional outbursts of the original writer). I think the tags can now be removed. Anybody care to comment on that? Adam keller 01:47, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
- Adam, i think you have done some great work, but much of this article's content is unreferenced speculation and/or commentary. (ie, too much "reasonable assumptions", "this means", etc.) Wikipedia should not have either but just deal with facts. I have put a whole lot of {{cn}} tags where I think in-line citations shoudl be provided, or info removed completely. Thus, depsite you improvements, i still think this article needs the tags. It is essentially an opinion peice, not an encyclopedic entry. I actually agree with much of what is written (Ie, I am no Prabowo fan!), but it is still only opinion and speculation in many places. --Merbabu 03:41, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
- That is reasonable. I did locate in the Jakarta Riots of May 1998 article a specific source to one item which was originally unreferenced and copied it here, and will try to do more, but I think it needs very much work - much more than was needed to just tidy up the material which was there already.Adam keller 13:55, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Comments
[edit]I've posted this from a subpage of this article - it wasn't much use there. My posting here is not intended as endorsement or objection. Hope original poster doesn't mind...
- This 'bio' reads like the worst form of Fleet-Street penny-dreadful propagandist leaflet. The amount of emotive non-referenced and highly speculative, not to mention outright libelous/slanderous commentary is shocking. I strongly argue the entire article be removed and the speculation and accusation placed into a new sub-category. At worst it reads as speculative provative slander, at best emotive politicised anecdotally-based character assassination. THis artlcle has little historical, social or academic merit. Assessment
[edit]I've just rated this a start class article and "mid" importance (from "low", "mid", "high", or "top"). Any thoughts? --Merbabu 11:06, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Potential Sources
[edit]Friend, T. (2003). Indonesian Destinies. Harvard University Press. ISBN 0-674-01137-6. is a good book. A fair bit of Prabowo discussion. Also, the Asiaweek article listed in further reading is looooooooooong - must be something in there. --Merbabu 11:13, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
WikiProject class rating
[edit]This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 07:35, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Poor Biography
[edit]Biography is libellous and slanderous. The article reads like a how-to of Wikipedia policy transgressions. Including: NPOV, Original Research, Poor Quality Suorce Material. Article uses Professor INTERNET NGO sites as thrid--party source material. Pathetic The article content is libellous in extreme- there is not a shred of thrid-party quality srouce data to support any of the wild NGO and vesetec-interest group accusations. Furthermore "1998 Recolution" is not even a term used in Indonesian. This is a term invented by students to glamourise their role in Suharto's "Lengser":. Suharto CHOSE to abdicate like the Javanese Kings of old. No-one forced him. This is very well discussed in all QUALITY data sources. I shall amend it to read more like a fact-based article an dless like a character assassination.Oberstminga (talk) 12:42, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Source for "Komnas HAM Absolved Prabowo for the Alleged Killings"
[edit]I removed this statement because it refers to Kompasiana, which is equal to a blog. The writer can not be held responsible for its writing and a possible of pseudo name. Should the statement come from a trusted source, I will move it back to the article.
An investigation conducted by Komnas HAM in 2006, the second of its kind, however, absolved Prabowo of murdering the 1997 victims who have still not reappeared. The report concluded that 4 parties had been involved in the kidnappings: The National Police (POLRI), The Army's Intelligence Division (BIA), The District Military Commandos (KODIM), and The Army's (ABRI's) Kopassus division. It also concluded that of the 18 victims (in this document named "SETAN GUNDUL") who were kidnapped, the 9 who were kidnapped by Kopassus were eventually returned.[1]
The Komnas HAM (National Commision for Human Rights) has yet absolved Prabowo's role for the human rights abuses in 1998. As it currently stands, the Komnas HAM still consider Prabowo as a witness of the human rights abuses case. http://nasional.kompas.com/read/2014/05/23/1000297/Komnas.HAM.Prabowo.Merupakan.Saksi.Pelaku.Pelanggaran.HAM --Hermansaksono (talk) 22:33, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Usage of full name as the title
[edit]Is it really necessary to have his full name as the title of the article? He's commonly referred as "Prabowo Subianto" and "Djojohadikusumo" is rarely used. --Yoshiharu10 (talk) 15:00, 12 November 2016 (UTC)
The Indonesian article is titled simply "Prabowo Subianto." None of the Indonesians I know ever refer to him by his full name. I agree that it should be retitled "Prabowo Subianto." Josh (talk) 21:17, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
