Additional Verifiable Sources Needed and Contradictions
[edit]Re. major edit on 14th April 2010 - if article is written using research for new book, can we please cite sources and/or name published book? Many of the major claims/facts in this article are unsubstantiated or lack any sources. Some of the quotes used that do cite a source do not add to article or state fact, and whilst it could be argued are descriptive are not informative.
Article is contradictory: Britpop origins are early 90s and club did not start until 1995 and "indie/dance" is not commonly noted as part of the Britpop scene. Links to another club (Blow Up) to substantiate this claim, yet linked page does not reference this one and no source provided for claim as clubs being related. Please provide sources to back claims in article eg. Popscene is related to Britpop; the named bands that attended the club; the DJs for the club were "the first successul DJs to move from vinyl to CD"; or that club is as culturally important as "The Hacienda, Blitz amd Wigan Casino" (these clubs were related to particular scenes, ie. late 80s Manchester/dance scene, New Romantic and Northern Soul respectively. Need to cite independently verifiable source outside of a radio phone-in to verify clubs' relation to a scene and/or its cultural significance). Piley1 (talk) 14:33, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- Agree that this article needs a tidy up/copy edit and some verifiable sources, but I'm not seeing that it self contradicts. "Britpop origins in early 90s" is not mentioned in the article and nothing about "indie/dance" not being part of the britpop scene. I've removed the flag, and added some more appropriate ones. Anyone remember the guest-list girl Maya, only 15 and this was her job. Never had to que once. What a legend. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.30.118.156 (talk) 00:21, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
Lack of references & notability
[edit]Not persuaded this page meets the notability criteria. Not every pub or club deserves an encyclopaedia entry, unless there is something particularly historically noteworthy about it, and I'm not getting that from this article.
In addition, there is a complete lack of referencing. IsiahBerlin235 (talk) 20:15, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- User:LoonaTB accidentally deleted all the references and wikilinks from the article with this edit last week. Since the edit also rephrased literal quotations to original sentences that people didn't actually say and there are some other apparent inaccuracies in there (the Astoria being in "London's Charing Cross Road district"?), I think it may be easier to just revert it at this point.
