Callixtus was killed in 222 CE, possibly in a popular uprising.

Emperor Elagabulus was killed in 222 CE in a popular uprising, his body being dragged through the streets of Rome.

Perhaps there is a connection.

Style of Callixtus I?

The Pope's style box is irrelevant in the case of Callixtus (and of many other popes). Callixtus did not have a coat of arm, and still less a tiara, was not addressed as 'Your Holiness' and not even known as 'Pope'. He was nothing more than the Bishop of Rome. The title of 'Pope' was first used by Siricius in 352. I suggest such colourful boxes be used sparingly and not in an anachronic way. Zerged (talk) 21:15, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Slavery navigation box

[edit]

The "portrait" Slavery navigation box does not go well with the current article. It pushes down the succession box beyond readability. Any ideas? Student7 (talk) 17:34, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Authority

[edit]

"allowed women and men from different classes to marry"

Wasn't this illegal under Roman law? Such a marriage was supposedly first allowed in the 6th century Corpus Juris Civilis. Dimadick (talk) 13:45, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

'honoured as a martyr in Todi on 14 August'

[edit]

What does this sentence mean? "Callixtus was honoured as a martyr in Todi, Italy, on 14 August." Was there a special ceremony? Was Todi a special place where these ceremonies were held? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 18:25, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It probably means that his feast is celebrated on that day in that place. Rwflammang (talk) 23:23, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Was, it seems. There used to be local saints, mostly now abolished by the church. Johnbod (talk) 02:17, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ordination parameter

[edit]

An unspecified "Ordination" parameter in the infobox is not the same as the specific "diaconal ordination" parameter in the infobox we wish to use. There are three levels of ordination, and being bishops, Popes can have 3 instances of these, whether they are the same date or all different. Elizium23 (talk) 20:28, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The infobox could easily say "Ordained: 199, as deacon, by Zephyrinus". Like this. Surtsicna (talk) 20:33, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Why would we do that when we have a custom-made infobox for this purpose? Elizium23 (talk) 20:35, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
