The statement "Achillas later became involved with the Arian Controversy, as an ally of Arius." is false and unsourced. It is possible that Achillas reinstated Arius as deacon after troubles with previous bishop Peter, or even that he ordained Arius into the priesthood (though Alexander also could have done this). These early issues between Peter and Arius had to do with the Meletian schism; it is my understanding that Arius had taken the side of the Meletians, but was then reconciled to the Alexandrian church. But to say that he Achillas "became involved in the Arian Controversy" which did not even really have its beginning until the episcopate of Alexander, who succeeded Achillas after his death, makes no sense. I am going to remove it unless someone can defend it.Ocyril (talk) 19:48, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
