Hi the list of the "pop idol" in other country must be complete, or we have to make ...after the german edition

Popstars vs. Pop Idol

I have not managed to source this yet, but it is well known in the industry that Simon Fuller created the Idol Format in the late '90's BEFORE POPSTARS. He shopped it around the UK broadcasters, but as it was before the reality TV boom started by 'Survivor' in the US and 'Big Brother' in Europe, they passed on it. He then refined the idea for a couple of years, with Thames and after Big Brother and took it back to broadcasters. Popstars UK was already in development with ITV at this time, but after a bidding war between the BBC and ITV, ITV won and commisioned the show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.71.138.193 (talk • contribs)

Popstars started in New Zealand -- the first broadcast was April 1, 1999.

As there were several series in Australia and New Zealand before the programme was launched in the UK, I have removed the two lines which state the concept was thought up by Fuller. 80.4.202.8 (talk) 21:27, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

My thoughts

I think the article doesn't really have much to do with POP Idol, more or less the foundation of the Idol series. Needs to look like Canadian Idol or American Idol.WestJet 21:17, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Results tables

In the results tables:

1. What does the different-coloured shading over the names signify?
2. What do the numbers in brackets after the names mean?
3. "Note: Not in every case were these the people announced by the hosts in the results show!" needs more explanation. What were the circumstances?
4. In the series one table, it seems odd to put the winner and runner-up in a category labelled "bottom two".
5. In the series two table, the "top three" category appears to contains one person or two people. Although you can eventually figure it out, I think that the layout is confusing.

In response:

-I have changed the colouring of the table to show it more clearly. The act in red was the act eliminated that week.
-The numbers in brackets indicate the number of times the contestant had previously been in the bottom two/three.
-The intent of the table is to show who gets eliminated. Once we get to the Top Three stage, there is no Bottom 2: just the act with the fewest votes is automatically eliminated.

The X Factor results table is probably better, but I think all Idol series shows follow the same format as this one. I believe there's a WikiProject for the Idol series (it doesn't cover The X Factor as it's a totally different show), perhaps it could be brought up there. ^anemone│_projectors 00:54, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

I really have no idea what this is trying to say. Were the hosts wrong or is the list wrong? Why? What were the circumstances, and why does this merit a big bold disclaimer? Surely it's not just referring to a slip-up by the hosts one time? There must be more to the story than that? Pop Idol To Return in Place of The X Factor in 2009

Is this a load of rubbish or was there really an announcement made to this effect by ITV? I find no evidence online anywhere! Suggest this comment be removed from the main article until it can be confirmed and sourced or refuted. --mattymax (talk) 16:19, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Series 2 Song Choice:

I found all the song choices by the contestants, and the order they sang in, and put it into the article, but it didnt look as how I planned. If anyone is able to improve it please do. :) The information should all be correct though, it just needs to be tidied up.

This is also the referece for them all, though I dont know how to do that, im new! :)
