Differences in Function '
-- I would be interested if somebody could explain the functional differences between the Polizia di Stato and the Carabinieri. I understand that one is civilian and the other is military but they both patrol and investigate crime in the civil sector. Are there some things that one force does that the other doesn't? Perhaps, also, to report a crime or problem, how do you decide which agency to go to?

Carabinieri, because are military, can operate in war and in mission in another country, the Polizia di Stato can't. The rules in Carabinieri are stricter than in Polizia. Carabinieri are diffuser in village than Polizia (for example, in a big province there are thirty or fourty Carabinieri's station and only four or five Polizia's station). Carabnieri work when people call emergency number 112; Polizia work when people call the number 113. Usually Polizia work in road accident, in computer crimes, in train surveillance (there is Polizia Ferroviaria; Railway Police), in investigation about fascist or communist or another terrorism, in investigation about Mafia and in special operation (ROS Reparto Operativo Speciale, who is the special force for kidnapping, etc.). Usually Carabinieri work in homicide (because 112 in called more than 113), in illegal food or drink modification and in territory control (in the little village or province there are only Carabinieri). For scientific investigation there are the Polizia Scientifica (Scientific Police) for Polizia who work in "simple" investigation and R.I.S. (Reparto Investigazioni Scientifiche; Division for scientific investigation, litteral translation) for Carabinieri who work in "hard" investigation. For the most violent and for serial-killer there is the U.A.C.V.(Unione di Vigilanza AntiCrimine), who dipend by Polizia. For the public order there are normal men of Polizia and Carabinieri and there is a special division, the Reparto Celere (Fast Division, litteral translation), for the big event and for the very violent protests.
Polizia di Stato (Civilian Police organization) get the premacy to all other Police Forces in Italy (Carabinieri/Guardia di Finanza/Forestale/Polizia Penitenziaria)dealing with public order and investigation after and before crime (prevenzione / repressione) The civilian Police cannot operate in war (but they have (WWI and WWII) and they still doing (Balkans Bosnia Kosovo Lebanon Somalia and Iraq). The rules in Polizia are stricter than the other Police Forces and there's a special branch of Polizia di Stato the D.I.G.O.S. (Divisione Investigative Generali Operazioni Speciali) that is dealing to investigate Terrorism and Internal Affaires as well Police emergency number in Italy is 113 that connect the citizen with the Polizia di Stato RHQ or Precind. Usually Polizia also work in traffic and road accident (there is the special unit Polizia Stradale/Road Police), in computer crimes (there is the special unit Polizia Informatica/Computer crime Police), in train surveillance (there is the special unit Polizia Ferroviaria/Railway Police), in investigation about fascist or communist or another terrorism (there is the special unit PDIGOS), in investigation about Mafia and in special operation (SCO Servizio Centrale Operativo, who is the special force for kidnapping, etc. also abroad Italy). Usually Polizia di Stato investigate in homicide, in illegal food or drink modification and in territory control, For scientific investigation there are the Polizia Scientifica (Scientific Police CSI) and his MHQ Laboratory based in Roma is the only one internationally certified. For the most violent and for serial-killer there is the U.A.C.V.(Unità Analisi Crimine Violento), who dipend by Polizia di Stato. For the public order there are normal men of Polizia and Carabinieri and there is a special division, the Reparto Celere (Mobile Unit, litteral translation), for the big event and for all kind of political strikes and all violent protests.
Polizia di Stato as a civil force
[edit]I added a link (as a reference) to http://www.normeinrete.it/ (read as laws on internet) that is an official italian site where to find italian laws. The law 121 of 1981 reformed Polizia di Stato in a civil force (was military). Please note my english sucks, so I pray you the check the spell of my wrote. Thanks.--151.50.186.46 (talk) 10:00, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Rank translations
[edit]The translations of ranks given in the Strenght section are wrong. Commissario and Commissario Capo are Superintendents (let's say they're like an Army Captain and Major), not Comissioners. I understand the latter as being a very high rank, usually the overall commander of a police force, like the Comissioner of Lmp. Sovrintendente is a Sergeant, a non-commissioned officer using an army comparison.

Proposed merge with History of the Italian State Police
[edit]The "history" page is wholly devoid of any reliable source, and has been tagged as unreferenced since 2012. Since there's no referenced content to merge here, I suggest making it a redirect until and unless the person(s) who added the content provide(s) it with adequate sourcing per WP:BURDEN. - Given that this has been uncontested for some time, and is based on a policy argument, redirected. Klbrain (talk) 20:36, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
No street address or phone number or email given
[edit]This article is just a billboard about how great they are. But there's no street address or email. I think there's a 113 number that people can call. But even that's not listed here. 72.191.224.191 (talk) 16:46, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
