Who were the judges in 2005?

[edit]

The judges for the first year of the award, 2005, are not listed. If you can name them and provide a citation to confirm the information, please include them in the article. — O'Dea (talk) 07:31, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know in this case, but often time awards won't have judges the first year, they'll use popular vote or some internal mechanism for choosing. Probably need to contact the award directly to confirm. Green Cardamom (talk) 13:45, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The judges for 2005 were added by User:Mfzt at 09:12 on 28 June 2011, and supporting citations followed later. — O'Dea (talk) 19:41, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Independent sources

[edit]

It has been common recently for literary awards to be nominated for deletion due to lack of independent sources. This article has a lot of sources, but they all seem to be associated with the award. Per WP:RS that doesn't establish notability. Recommend independent sources be added in addition to the Irish Times. They would have to be more than passing mentions, sources where the article is dedicated to/about the award. Green Cardamom (talk) 18:22, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I added independent sources at your request, but you could have done this yourself in a matter of seconds, as I did, instead of complaining. They were not lengthy articles but, for now, they independently confirm the award's existence. It is a curiosity that you mention article deletion since you created such an article yourself in March 2011. — O'Dea (talk) 18:50, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Since you are an active maintainer of this article, I'm warning you that someone (not me) is AfD'ing literary award articles. Thank you for adding sources for this article, it is no longer in danger. You could continue to help add sources for the remaining 1000+ literary awards articles, most of which don't have active maintainers. I have been adding sources to these articles nearly non-stop for the past month or so; and become more involved with the AfD process to save them. For example:
New literary award AfD's can be monitored from this link (slow load). Thank you. -- Green Cardamom (talk) 19:21, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The hostility shown by deletionism towards literary awards is extraordinary. The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award and the Christopher Ewart-Biggs Memorial Prize, for example, are very significant and notable, and widely known among those familiar with the British literary scene. — O'Dea (talk) 01:50, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
