[edit]What is an info box, and how do I put one in? --Irishbreakfast NZ (talk) 00:49, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- See {{Infobox Organization}}. There may be more appropriate infoboxes, but this is the first that came to mind. See Category:Infobox templates for others.-gadfium 02:55, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
top of the do list (easy things)
[edit]- Get references for the Swindells
- Verify more of the 'luminaries'.
- ??? I am unsure how to reference this properly. For example, it is very likely that a Playcentre Association will tell me or email to me that famous person X was part of their association, either as an adult or attended as a child. If as a child, the paper records would be confidential and if as an adult the records would be meeting minutes, again not public records. So, how do I put this on the page?
Irishbreakfast NZ (talk) 00:29, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- I suggest you check biographies or autobiographies to see if they mention Playcentre. It would also be useful if you separated out those who were involved as adults from those involved as pre-schoolers. This confused me when I saw Tizard on the list.-gadfium 02:55, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
don't delete this article
[edit]Playcentre is a significant early childhood education movement in New Zealand. Yes, the page needs tidying but Wikipedia needs this article. I have removed the tag alleging non-notability.Nankai (talk) 09:57, 11 July 2008 (UTC) Also deleted tag alleging that the article is an advertisement. Playcentre is a movement/philosophy not merely a service provider. The article may not make this clear but as I said above, wikipedia needs this article. Nankai (talk) 10:01, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Removed advert tag as it had no relavence and the user adding it had not made any contribution to the previous discussions. I allso looked at there page and 90% of the comments were advert related :( with no guidence to the areas that needed changing given. Happy to discuss it if you want.

My edits and selective alumni
[edit]I have made a few tweeks so that the article doesn't sound like a PR piece, and only capitalised the proper name "Playcentre" in reference to the organisation, but used "playcentre" or just "centre" to refer to the generic individual pre-school centres. I would also tend to delete the alumni section - it doesn't really seem to be particulary encyclopedic, are we to suppose that there is some connection between going to a playcentre (or doing the diploma) and success later in life? Should it be balanced by a list of social dropouts who also went to playcentres on the assumption that they were similarly influenced? I suppose it is the same for lists of alumni associated with universities etc. --Tony Wills (talk) 08:52, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
I think we can remove the {{advert}} tag, except that the references are mainly from Playcentre sourced material rather than independant sources, and some would perhaps be in a "further reading" section if they aren't being used as cited sources for this article (and some links are dead). --Tony Wills (talk) 09:40, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
