Request for Expansion

[edit]

It would be great if anyone could add more depth to the article on this company. The "Coaches" section picks up from Paramount range that was introduced in the 1980s, but there's no mention of the hugely successful Panaroma or Elite styles from the 1970s, or their predecessors dating back to the 1950s. Similarly on the bus side, nothing is said about the Derwent range. It would be interesting to find out more about the history of the company, and how it managed to aquire rival [Duple] and it journey into and out of Transbus International if anyone can provide it. --Ayrshire--77 08:52, 16 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Greatly expanded and improved article, much more interesting! --Ayrshire--77 06:31, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on completing the history, but can anyone add a decent photograph of a current Plaxton design? --RXUYDC 20:32, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

.
  1. Main problem with article is the lack of inline references.
  2. Needs copy-edit for WP:MOS expecially on spaces between figures and units

Taken over by Kirby Bus & Coach

[edit]

@JFL2422: It seems as if in this edit you added the information "In March 1987 Plaxton was taken over by Kirby Bus & Coach, who were Plaxton's largest dealer. Kirkby soon invested in modernising the Scarborough factory and addressed some industrial relations problems."

I don't think that is quite right but it remains in the article as if it is correct. Is it possible that Kirby became a dealer of Plaxton products (because Plaxton had bought Kirby Bus and Coach, i.e. exactly the opposite)? Eddaido (talk) 12:22, 6 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - you are correct. I have updated the paragraph and cited sources. --Editor2422 (talk) 18:08, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
