In Crow, Thomas E. Painters and Public Life in Eighteenth Century Paris. New Haven: Yale University Press, 1985, Crow says "the statue was destroyed by Revolutionary iconoclasts in 1792" (p. 158)
Was the statue remade or repaired? Crow doesn't add any further information about the statue, which is presented in this article as though this is the original statue (which it may well be, given my lack of knowledge on this subject!). If anyone knows more and could clarify or add something about this, that would be great!
