"...they slide inward and outward with the centrifugal force of the wheel's rotational movement."

Do you have a reference on that? It seems implausible to me - I'd imagine they just move under gravity. Pjc51 14:09, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

no it's true. i was there and the tour guide said the wheel spins at 300rpm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.193.194.181 (talk) 18:59, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to the article, the Sun Wheel is closed, however, I just went on it last week. 71.202.5.212 (talk) 03:55, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Manufacturer

[edit]

Even though Intamin lists this product in their ride catalog, and has a picture of this particular wheel, Intamin did not build this ride. Mickey's Fun Wheel/Sun Wheel was a Premier Rides project constructed by Waagner-Biro. Premier and Waagner-Biro were in a partnership at the time. Intamin has since acquired the technology from Waagner Biro and that is why this ride is listed in their catalog. This was discussed in an issue of Amusement Business, but the online reference is no longer available. I do have a ride catalog with the Premier/Waagner BIro logos and a photo of this wheel, but I do not know if I have the rights to upload it.JlACEer (talk) 16:32, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Did Waagner-Biro also manufacture the Giant Wheel & Sky Whirl rides? 92.40.210.226 (talk) 19:15, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, as far as I know most of those claw-type rides were made by Waagner-Biro, but sold by Intamin. See http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/waagner-biro_15_326.jpg. From what I can recall, one of them, AstroWorld's or Kings Island's perhaps, was from a different manufacturer, but I do not remember which ride it was.JlACEer (talk) 12:53, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
