Kawa Kawa and its stimulatory actions
[edit]Boiled tea of Kawa Kawa is known to be a potent aphrodisiac, enhancing endurance, libido and even discomfort due to aching muscles. This maybe a combination effect from the eugenol (upwards of 70% of the essential oil), perhaps piperine(sp?) components and even maybe something analogous to the kava lactones.
Kawa kawa is colloquially called New Zealand Kava.

Insect holes
[edit]My understanding is that only one variety (excelsum?) is commonly full of insect holes and that is the one that is safe to consume because the hole-free variety (majus?) is toxic to insects and humans. But I don't have a reference --Hugh7 (talk) 06:53, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Kawakawa...
[edit]If this article is meant to be about Kawakawa then perhaps it should be modified and renamed to be Piper excelsum subsp. excelsum MargaretRDonald (talk) 20:17, 26 November 2019 (UTC)
