[edit]Is Picture and Picture, a feature on some TV's the same as PIP and does it require 2 receivers? 24.0.47.195 (talk) 19:13, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
NO! The current photo Wikipedia displays for this page contradicts the text definition. Why? Because PIP (Picture-in-picture) = (2) different television programs displayed at the same time. Not a computer image and a television program. Apparently Sony and perhaps other manufacturers have been reading this incorrect definition as well or maybe the original poster was misled. If you buy a Sony TV (model KDL46BX420 for example), that claims to have PIP, the Sony TV will not display Picture in Picture = (2) different television programs displayed at the same time. Be for-warned. Buyer beware! Check any TV that claims to have PIP. Otherwise you may not be able to watch two different sports channels at the same time!Sharpfocus (talk) 23:35, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Mother of All Demos?
[edit]Would the live video work in this demo in 1968 be an earlier example of pip? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Woodwardtw (talk • contribs) 17:38, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

Another interesting example
[edit]Richard Nixon phone call to the astronauts of Apollo 11 was brodcasted along with an image from his office, we can see a sample of that transmission here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_8tawnlwr8&t=25 Modern restored footage of the Apollo 11 broadcast usually show a different, rectangular section of the image, but this is probably what the world saw back in 1969, as other black and white recordings from foreign television broadcasters support. --79.41.45.169 (talk) 07:24, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

Has DirectTV discontinued PiP on their DVRs?
[edit]So far as I can tell, the current DirectTV DVR units do not have PiP anymore. Can anyone confirm or disprove this? ProphetZarquon (talk) 04:30, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
