Intentionally misleading?
[edit]There is no mention in this article, that Fred Rogers, who had no association with Paske or John Norman pleaded guilty to killing Hellstrom in 2012. There is no mention in this article, that Latin Kings gang members, who had no association with Paske or John Norman, were convicted of murdering Michael Salcido, 17, of Des Plaines, Arthur Salcido, 19, of Princeton, Ill., and their friend Frank Mussa, 16, of Princeton on Feb. 25, 1979 FantasyPopper (talk) 21:55, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
- Somehow I missed this, but I will add it. Thank you for the correction. Swinub (talk) 23:28, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
Johnny Gosch Abduction?
[edit]Due to how up in the air it really is and how much the Gosch case has mismatched information over the years as apparent with the Facebook page.
Is it worth adding a section on Paske potentially being one of the abductors in the Gosch case especially since Noreen has added it into the 2024 addition of her book Why Johnny Can't Come Home... as well as how much Bonacci's description of Paske matches him or should we simply leave it out?
I know there was a few other abductions he also matched the description of that took place out in California.. though one of these he was ruled out of based on DNA within the past few years.
I thought I would ask since it's not really a proven thing by any law enforcement agency and is mostly conspiracy. As much as Johnny being sold to the "Colonel" who is claimed to be Norman is conspiracy. Though again there's information to back that up just no exact proof, just thought I'd ask since if it seems worthwhile to have I could compile available information for a section... but of course I've also felt very up in the air since a lot has gone around in that sector of the whole rabbit hole that is John David Norman/Phillip Paske and also Johnny Gosch seperately.
Also leads me to ask if this one article of a guy who escaped Gacy might be interesting, since he mentions Paske as the other man in the vehicle.. but because again it's not like there's any confirmation rather than a story; though this guy did have a record for dumping Gacy's car.. it leaves me to ask if I should add a paragraph to the Gacy ties section. Anhedonicx (talk) 20:13, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- If it was mentioned in her book it would be fine to add an aside about it. I would've liked to add Bonacci's description but if no reliable sources have connected the two it can't be put here, sadly.
- As for Paske being in the vehicle, a more reliable source than the Toronto Sun would be preferable. Swinub (talk) 00:10, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
See Also Section
[edit]I'm not sure necessarily how you add a see also section but if we should.. should we include articles to John Wayne Gacy and John David Norman? Anhedonicx (talk) 05:04, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- They are mentioned throughout the article, and both are linked. "See also" sections are usually for tangentially related topics, but not those directly connected to the subject that are already on the page. I would like to see one on here though and have considered adding Peter Sotos since he was another distributor (technically) from Chicago, but he might not be relevant enough. It's hard to gauge this sometimes. Swinub (talk) 05:50, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- I have heard of Sotos before, especially since I listen to a lot of bands that are similar to Whitehouse.. I always did find it strange he was the first person here in the US charged with CP and was also from Chicago.. same area that Norman/Paske were operating out of though this charge was after the takedown in Chicago of Norman's ring.
- It definitely would be interesting to add, though I agree it just doesn't feel relevant enough either since their almost on two different wave lengths... Anhedonicx (talk) 18:56, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- The "Sotos was the first" thing is sort of misleading, and I think it is more referring to his conviction for possession of it rather than production or distribution. Child pornography was always highly illegal, but the specific charge on paper did not exist prior. Producers in the '70s would usually get hit with "crimes against nature" or "contributing to the delinquency of a minor."
- I wrote this article about a man sentenced to 25 to 40 years in 1977. Many people online seem to believe that CP was 100% legal prior the '80s, which is far from the truth (for the U.S. at least, things were a little different in Europe). Swinub (talk) 19:37, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- I’ve definitely noticed this discrepancy with a lot of people’s knowledge on the legal system of the time.
- For the most part, it simply wasn’t hard to obtain at the time.. I know there was a documentary called Boys For Sale that talked about how it was easy to possess back in 1981. As it wasn’t as enforced as it is today; laws have definitely came far especially in regards to trafficking but CP production was still very illegal for the time in the US. They often actually used loopholes due to European laws at the time.. I know there was also a European pornography company out of Denmark that was producing illegal pornography right out in the open with no legal repercussions.
- When the 80s rolled around there simply was more crackdown on possession of CP. Anhedonicx (talk) 04:11, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
Slight concerns with the new video out/Potentially making a Roy Ames article
[edit]By no means am I upset by the YouTuber who mentioned Paske in an article recently as well as Norman and the like; though I am I guess slightly concerned about misinformation on the article or unneeded edits occurring.
I don't think most people have that much interest in Wikipedia, but it still leaves me a little concerned that some might make changes that are unneeded to the presented information which is most of the information out there that I've been able to compile.
I'm gonna try to make sure to check a bit more in here in case there is anything I don't think is accurate added.
None the less, I have came into contact with another individual very deeply involved in this whole rabbithole too. He knows a lot on the Roy Ames side of things and at the moment me and him have been trying to find information on some of his other connections as well as some other things. I was kind of curious if Ames seems important enough to have his own article as I know this is considered with Wikipedia and this one seemed to be approved.
I made a draft, but have barley started on it.. mostly because I'm so busy with so much other stuff with my life.. I worry sometimes about how busy I am lol. Anhedonicx (talk) 02:48, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
- I noticed the YouTube video and timing of the recent edit... may have been a coincidence. Anyway, the article is on my watchlist, which I check every couple days, so it will be fine.
- I actually started writing an article about Ames a few months ago but stopped for reasons I cannot remember. It may have been a notability issue. Best of luck to you and the other individual. Swinub★ 13:14, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
